My iPhone 5 will not turn on

Does the screen come up at all?

Mine was same, i held the centre button and lock button down for about 10 secounds and my phone came back on, thanks for everyone's advise on here really helped thanks!

After you toggle the mute switch on the side of the phone a couple of times, hold the power and the home button at the same time for 15-20 seconds. Hope this helps!

My iphone 5 has also just shut down while it had 75% battery power. No amount of resets, hard or soft, work. The phone is dead. Despite all the posts above there has only been one reply from Apple and that didn't solve the problem for any of the people that a hard reset didn't work. DFU mode is not an option for us as well, as the phone will not power up at all regardless of whether it is being charged, plugged in or any othet solutions offered by cutomers. My phone is 13 months old and is as dead as doornail. Apple?????????????????????????

My service provider refused to repair or replace the phone as it was 1 week out of warranty so I took it to a local iphone repair store and they told me it was irreparable, apparently something to do with the power connection between the battery and the phone. Thanks Apple, great device for 13 months, useless thereafter.

This just happen to me today and I did the hard restart and works great now. I had to hold the 2 buttons for about 20 seconds before it did anything. Thanks for the advice everyone

I've just had this same problem - Except in the UK's flagship Regent Street store. Useless... they have NO explination as to why the phone isn't working. They want another £210.00 and then I would only get 3 months warranty from then on... who do they think I am! Annoys me that my home is filled with other Apple products.

CAUSE & SOLUTION: I just had the same problem for the first time with my iPhone 5s. Did the hard reset, held for longer than you think necessary and it worked.

This happened with my iPad mini some time ago and I called Apple Care and was told it happened because I had too many apps opened. So once my phone started up, I closed all my apps. I couldn't believe how many I had opened.

Maybe this is the same reason for the phone shutting down. Turning off the phone doesn't close the apps. You have to do it manually - each one.

hello. this happened to me just today. do you know a way to hard reset it without using the lock button? i've tried restoring and updating it on itunes but it still wont turn on and my lock button does not work. thanks.

i have this same problem except my lock button doesnt work any ideas?

My iPhone 5S will shut off even when the battery level is fairly high...all of a sudden just stops and goes black. It comes back when recharged. However recharging is hard too. Sometimes it takes the charge and sometimes it doesn't. Always walk around with my charger and cord attached. This is crazy. I have tried everything but still happens.
