iPhone 5 battery life is way worse than iPhone 4

I just got an iphone 5 and I restored a backup from my iPhone 4 so I have the same settings. But the iphone 5 drains way faster than my two year old very well used iPhone 4 which is running 5.1.1. Is it because of IOS 6? Just leaving it sitting overnight lost about half the battery. My iPhone 4 hardly uses any battery while it sits overnight.

Or do I have a bad battery on my new phone?

I have this same problem, I thought that my iPhone 5 battery drained quickly yesterday but I figured it was just because I was using it so much. Well I plugged it in when I went to sleep last night, I woke up in the middle of the night and unplugged it. When I woke up this morning my battery had already drained quite a bit. I looked at the usage stats and it said it was in standby for 2:45 minutes and usage was 1:45. I am not sure how its being used for almost two hours over night. It has the same setting as I restored from backup. Also, my wife has a 4S that has 6.0 and she had very little usage time, seems at least in my case to be confined to the iPhone 5. Very annoying though.

Thanks Oli for letting me know it's not only me and identifying the usage issue. I just checked and it says over 5 hours which is a good bit more than I have used the phone. Can I ask if you are in Europe? I am in France and I wonder if this is related to a batch that was delivered to Europe. People in the US are saying their battery life is great, but I wonder if it is too soon to say for them.

I've been reading around and it seems there are a fair amount of people having issues. Hopefully a fix comes quickly. I'm in the US, so at least in my case the issue is present over here as well, yeah I've only had the phone for about 20 hours so we still fairly new to this, I think today we will see more of these issues come up.

This is only a suggestion. When the iPhone 4S came out people were having the same issue. One possible reason could be the "diagnostics and usage" section under "general settings>about". If its set to automatically send, it could very well be the culprit. With the iPhone 4S I think it defaulted to automatically send. I haven't had any battery issues with my ip5, but my diag and usage is set to "don't send". This may not be the issue, but at least check into it to rule it out.

I'm having same battery drainage problem after restoring my iphone5 from an iPhone 4 backup.

Drains really bad when on LTE. However still drains 30-40% overnight when not even used and no apps open. That's horrible.

Tried reset all settings options and will see how it does. So far will drain about 1% every 3-4 minutes on wifi. Doesn't seem as bad as yesterday but not great. Try the reset all settings option and see if it helps for you.
