How do I sync my facebook friends to my IPhone 5 contacts?
iPhone 5, iOS 6
i didnt give feedback i reported it as an issue
this is what i said
This is regarding ios 6 contact syncing.
I use ios 6 and Facebook contact sync. But recently fb doesn't sync contacts who haven't updated their phone numbers. This has lead to only some of my facebook contacts appearing. And birthdays don't sync anymore because of this. I also used to email contacts on their facebook email Id . Which used to sync before having the requirement of updating phone number to appear in my contacts.
If people prefer less clutter, there are many like me who prefer it the way it was before. So if fb considers viable could u kindly make this option available to me and many like me.
Thank you
and what about birthdays syncing to calenders without phone numbers updated.....
thats ludicrous
fb had it available before and now removing it handicaps me a little.....
why remove features, instead of adding more and keeping the existing ones ....
if i want the clutter why is fb deciding for me......and this is all because this was available before recently....
It seems a very retrograde step taken by Facebook....now offering only part of a facility that they used to offer! If users didn't like the 'clutter', then they always had the option to not sync their Facebook contacts with their address book. Personally, I only ever synced my address book contacts that were on Facebook.
Hey guys! I think I found the solution to get the Facebook profiles pictures synced back into your contacts!
In the article that I posted above, it says: "friends that have no contact information on their profile 'OTHER THAN A @FACEBOOK.COM EMAIL ADDRESS' will not be synced to the Contacts address book going forward."
So basically all you have to do is go to Contacts, select a contact, enter that contact's facebook email address in their info. Then go to Settings App. Then Facebook. Then "Update All Contacts". Then go back to that Contact and their Facebook profile picture should be synced into their info!
I know it's a pain in the *** to do this manually, but it's the only way!
Wait where exactly do I put the @facebook.com email address? and even then would it be linked like before? I do hope that your solution will fix it:) but where do i put the @facebook.com email address even?
Go to the Contacts app. Select a contact. Then it brings up that's contact's info. Go to Edit. Scroll down until you see "email" and just type in that person's facebook email address (?@facebook.com). I sent it to "home" email address, but I don't think that matters. Then go to the Settings App. Then Facebook. Then "Update All Contacts". Then go back to that Contact and their Facebook profile picture should be synced into their info!
I know it will be a pain to do this manually one by one, but it should work for every contact. Hope this helps!
Same problem. I can't sync my contacts from Facebook. However, I can't integrate at all with Facebook. I can't "Like" an app on the app store. I can't share anything from Instagram, etc. Whenever I do, it reverts me back to the FB settings app to reenter my password.
Just email your ios device ALL of your contacts currently on your Mac and click on merge on the ios device. After that, it might tell you no more contacts were found to merge. If this is the case, click the create contacts button. NOTE: you may have to delete a few duplicates
There's a simpler workaround:
Just email your ios device ALL of your contacts currently on your Mac and click on merge on the ios device. After that, it might tell you no more contacts were found to merge. If this is the case, click the create contacts button. NOTE: you may have to delete a few duplicates
I don't understand how it is FB, because I have a number of family member who have working/valid phone numbers linked to their FB pages and I am still unable to sync them through the FB sync. My husband and I are having the exact problems but my son who just recently recieved the IPhone 4S was able to sync all of his friends and family memeber from his FB. So I don't think that it is FB I believe that it is the new IPhone 5/5c. Those are the phones that my husband and I just recently bought on the 9th of October of this year. So don't think that it is FB I believe that I is the phone itself.
This was working for me... On two separate occasions when I Updated All Contacts, it pulled the FB information in for the contacts that I had entered @facebook.com email addresses for.
Unfortunately, it no longer seems to be working... I have entered the @facebook.com addresses for all the contacts in my iphone 5 (tedious, i know), however when I press the "Update All Contacts", it doesn't seem to work anymore. I simply get the "0 Contacts Updated" even though several contacts still need to pull that info from FB.
I see that this is roughly a year old post/question, but I'll share my feedback just for those who happen upon the same issue currently. To reiterate the issue that many are having is that their contacts within their iOS devices are no longer syncing with the corresponding Facebook account, so no photo update, no info update, even after integrating the native iOS Facebook "Update Contacts." The confusion of what is actually happening is a result of some actions Facebook has taken in attempting to make themselves a primary data source, where users interact with Facebook themselves, instead of what was happening previously in it being used as a sort of "dumb data locker" that other programs would sync to, similar to how one would use OSX Mail app to get their gmail instead of going directly to Gmail. If you are a Mac user you will probably see this in your Contacts app as Facebook being listed as a separate account from your lefthand dropdown list. So, how do we get around this and regain what we once had where our contacts update photo and other info? Well Facebook would like you to upload all of your contacts to your account. They have added this feature, that they very clearly admit, to "help" all users (even those who aren't your friends) find one another. Once you upload all your contacts to your Facebook account then you will once again have this "seamless syncing." Facebook also wants users to do this so they are more incline to use their Messenger app for their texting instead of SMS. I personally would not allow the uploading of all my personal contacts to Facebook, but if that is something that does not bother you then this will more than likely be an amazingly usefull feature for you. The other way is to manual edit all of your contacts to be sure to include the email address that they use to log into Facebook and that their names are the same in your contacts that they are on their Facebook account. Firstly unchecking the contacts box in the Facebook settings on your iOS device and then reenabling after making sure to edit these two items. Doing these two things will resolve most of your contacts syncing with Facebook, but not all. It seems to be hit or miss and most likely the contacts that do not sync nor update are the ones that either have recently changed their email access account on their Facebook or that they change their About info more frequently. Good Luck
I found new app in itunes store for manualy sync.
Is there anything equivilent to the HTC Sense, where it loads all phone numbers from Facebook to your contacts.
Same goes to me, now I just got 20 contacts from Facebook only if I filter my group jut to show Facebook contacts.
