I can't login to my iCloud account after updating to mac os 10.8.2

I can't log in to my iCloud account on my iMac after updating to mac osx 10.8.2. I'm signed in to my iMac with administrator privilegs and receive an authentication window via iCloud system preferences - but login fails and starts over and over again. The login does not fail using the web-interface (www.icloud.com) or my iphone (ios 5.1.1). All contacts and calendar items on my mac are lost.

Any suggestions? Thanx!

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Hey,

This way the same problem with me. I was really frustated to see the iCloud work fine on my iPhone and iCloud web account.

To add to that i wasn't able to login to my mail app, couldn't use the iMessages. It was troubling me.

What I did was I deleted all the old passwords associated with my iCloud account from "Keychain" app (dont worry when you log in again the new password wil be stored automatically). Then signed in from the system preferences and everything works fine.
It surely works, go ahead give it a try.

Hi,

I deleted all associated to apple, but the one called Apple Authorization ID could have made the difference. I am not sure of its exact name but it sounded something like that. Look for the domain name on the rightside of the keys. If you find anyhting associated with Messages, Mail, Contacts or anything related to iCloud (you can leave the daw.apple.com or web apps its not related to OS X) simple delete them.

Look for them manually wont take you more than a minute. Once done open whatever application you want to use, it will prompt you for a sign in. Log in and you are good to go.

Let me know if it works.

Hey,

Dont go deleting all the keys, there are a few related to system I guess. I wouldn't recommend you to go and play with such stuff.
But you can do this. Select passwords to the left under the categories section. Now you can delete all the keys whose name has anything related to Apple or iCloud. Also, look for the kind. I deleted all the keys whose kind was 'application password'. The one which I deleted was 'Apple ID Authentication' associated with iCloud.

I am positive that it should work. As I just tried it on my other Mac. Be careful not to mess with the system keys.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mahesh,

thanks from my side as well. Sadly your strategy does not work on my mackbook pro either.

I deleted the icloud password and the appleid password from keychain. the only apple related password left is 'apple persistent state encryption' which i'd rather not touch. I restarted my computer and the problem persists. I enter my password in 'system preferences - icloud - enter password' and the wheel starts spinning. i do not get any error or other response and after a while a pop up appears that tells me that icloud is not set up properly and i have the option of clicking 'later' or 'go to system preferences' (or something like it).

I can't login to my iCloud account after updating to mac os 10.8.2
