iOS 6 disaster. Facetime and imessage not working. sync problems

I'm afraid THAT didn't work with me either!!! :((

I followed the steps one by one & in the end I got the same message

"FaceTime activation: the user name or password is not correct"

I change it to UK, US, Egypt(where I am)

Nothing works!

The iMessage is working but the FaceTime is not! :(

What I did before the description I gave, I restored my iPad to its factory condition by connecting it to iTunes and I created a new Apple ID. I initially put in my actual location (Cyprus) and facetime worked and signed me in. When I closed it and opened it again it asked me for a password. I typed the correct password several times but I could not connect again. Then I did what I explained before and logged in immediately. You can try that as well if you don't mind changing over to another Apple ID. I did not mind because it was my first Apple device so it was a new account.

Finally & after many trials!! I gave up on that Apple ID & took your advice by making a new Apple ID, I tapped on make a new Apple ID >> put a different email address >> & a password >> then it gave me the Veryfying message ............... > TADA! it logged me in ! now under FaceTime settings my phone number is checked on & my new apple ID email too. when they asked me for my region I chose UK . I don't know if I changed it to Egypt again will it get disabled again ?

Do I have to switch my app store ID to the new one as well ?

Anyways I'm glad at least that it did sign me in. I haven't tested it & called someone yet.

I had a similar issue :

To resolve this i went to generals: App store and clicked on my apple id. when a pop up shows click on view Applie id account. There select the payment process and select NONE in the type of card instead of your visa or mastercard. save it and then you can try getting into facetime., It should be good. It worked for me. I recently updated my iTouch to the new iOS 6 update and it still will not let imessage work. I have went into my settings on my iTouch to see if i could re enter all of my data. I tired this and nothing seems to be working. My passwords and information are all correct but it says that they are incorrect. what do i do?

I was having the same problem and got it working by logging in with my iCloud email address instead of my primary (Gmail) address as the user ID. They're both linked to the same iCloud account, but for some reason using my Gmail address as the user ID gives the incorrect password error, but using the iCloud address works fine.
