Editing Pages Document via applescript

Well, in the spirit of learning some AppleScript, something like this should work for changing the paper size:

tell application "Pages"

tell front document

set paper size of page attributes to {height:595.5, width:420.0}

end tell

end tell

The terminology is there in the scripting dictionary.

Users acquire points from OPs (original posters) marking answers to their posts as solved or helpful, as you did for Jeff. Answer questions as you are able & you will get points. Unfortunately, most OPs don't understand how the system works & you will get a lot of "thanks, that solved my problem" without being awarded points.

I did it the old fashioned way; I looked the paper size up on Wikipedia, and used the (American arrogance here) dimensions of 8.27 inches by 5.83 inches which I multiplied by 72 points per inch to get what I used.

That is not the "right" way, though. I should have formatted a Pages document in A5 and then run the AppleScript;

and used the result from that.

When you asked about points, I think Peggy thought you were talking about the points listed with our level, to the left of the post. If my first post answered your question and my second one was helpful, then, yes, you are doing it right. (Which is better than a lot of new posters manage to do.)

You might want to install this paper sizes widget. Very handy for us international-paper-size-challenged Americans.

You don't need an AppleScript to change a document's size, unless you want to change all the content without scaling the content, which is a tricky thing to do in a script.
