I was just having this issue and 'updaitng' genius didn't work. What I did was:
- Turn off iTunes Match.
- Turn off Genius.
- Turn on Genius.
- Turn on iTunes Match.
When I turned on Genius, it actually had a new user agreement that I had to agree to. Don't know what I had to disable it and enable it to see that new user agreement....

I solved the problem by switching to Kubuntu, Amarok and Amazon Music. Everything works great.
