ios 6 and Alpine iDA-X305

I have an iDA-X305 (not S version) that I have used with my iPhone 4 and previous iPods for a few years. I had no issues with iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 or 4th Gen iPod Touch. My official Apple 30-pin to Lightning adapter arrived today (the 0.2m cable version, not the smaller adapter) and it did not work with my iPhone 5 on the iDA-X305. :-( It would say searching for 5+ minutes and finally say ERROR 03. I guess I'll be using my older iPhone or iPod for awhile until Alpine has a solution. I really don't want a new head unit since I already have a heavy investment in the PXA-H100 Imprint sound processor and KCE-400BT Bluetooth adapter, but I want the better sound and control function that Bluetooth doesn't offer.

I have seen that from time to time on my iPhone 4S on my iDA-X305s...especially after a software update. Have you done a hard reset of the iPhone (home button and power button)? -- and then a reset of the head unit?? That always cleared it for me...I also used to have to de-install Pandora sometimes and reinstall.

I don't have Pandora app installed, but I will try your hard reset suggestions tomorrow. Thanks for the idea!

Harttim1, you are a genious!!! That worked and I can now listen to podcasts perfectly fine with my iPhone 5 and iDA-X305. Thank you very much for the idea!!!

Are you using the alpine 30-pin cable or the apple 30-pin cable? I am trying to sort this out and I have an IDA-X305s that will not work with my iPhone 4 (iOS 6) or with my iPhone 5 but I am trying to use the standard apple cables. Should I order the alpine cable?

None of Apple's standard charging/sync cables will work with the X305. You have to use the cable that shipped with it from Alpine. I think it's similar to a KCU-440i, but I can't find one anywhere to get a second one as a backup (mine is wearing with age and gets finnicky in the Maine winter weather). It hasn't been made in a long time and no reputable dealers like Crutchfield carry it, nor does Alpine's online store. I've bought several on eBay and all have been cheap Chinese knockoffs that won't work. Also, the newer KCU-445i won't work either as it's more or less a standard charging/sync cable. But, if you can find that 440i cable somewhere, and then use Apple's new 30-pin to Lightning adapter, that works with the iPhone 5. I had to reset both the phone and the head unit to get them to communicate, but I've been happily using it for a few days now without any issues. Works just as good as the iPhone 4 did. :-)

Hello. You will absolutely need the ALPINE KCU-445I - 30-PIN TO USB CABLE. The Apple alternative will not work here This cable is normally provided with this particular Alpine unit. These cables can be picked up quite easily on eBay or Amazon.

I obviously didn't read your entire earlier message. Have you tried resetting the head unit and the iPhone?

I have tried resetting both. I have also tried my iPhone 4 (which is on iOS 6) and tried resetting both the phone and HU. nothing.

BSlaughter, it's "ship to store only" and the closest is over 200 miles from me. When I've called and tried to order it directly from Alpine they tell me they don't have any and haven't manufacturered it in 4 years. :-(

Just an idea...not sure where you live...but I had Al & Ed's Autosound install the radio here in LA. They can get the cable...$35 and a few days shipping. So try a local Alpine installer...sounds like you only need the 6" cable.
