ios 6 and Alpine iDA-X305

Has anyone tried using the iPhone 5 or an older iPhone with ios 6 on an Alpine iDA-X305 head unit? Any issues? Also wondering if the Lightning connector coupled with the 30 pin adapter has had any problems interfacing with Alpine radios.

I don't know if it helps any, but I've just ordered the lead from Alpine UK and the spares part number is 09-14676Z01 (all 0 are zero)

That's for the 'in the box' lead supplied with the head unit.

I've got an IDA-X305, iPhone 4S with iOS 6 and never had any problems with a cabled connection.

Only bluetooth problems I've ever had was when the last big iOS update about a year ago (?) made it necessary to update the firmware on the KCE-400BT thingy

No worries - all this talk of difficulty in obtaining leads got me worried, especially as the casing on mine's split open, so I've ordered one myself

According to Alpine UK, the KC part number is a dealership part number, the 09- number's a spares reference

I actually have an IDA-X305s and the KCE-250BT. When I am on a call and a second call comes in, I see the call then it is instantly put to voicemail. I was hoping the firmware update from 3.80 to 4.00 might fix it but it didn't. It has been like this on IOS 4.X, 5.X, and now 6 so I figure it is either the BT or head unit. I can't find any settings regarding this so I just live with it. Anyone else have this issue or know how to resolve it? I went with the 250 because at the time the 400 was pretty pricey and I always plug it in so there wasn't a need to stream. If the 400 doesn't have this issue then I will upgrade as I can get one for $100 and sell my 250 for around $75.

BSlaughter - I have the 305s head unit and the 400bt adapter and the call waiting drops on mine like yours.

I haven't done any firmware updates, partially b/c I don't know how. Nor do I think it will resolve any of the issues.

I have the iphone 5 and ios6. Waiting for the 30pin to lighting adapter to come in b/c according to this forum it appears to work. However when I installed the Alpine equipment in my car I used a generic usb extender to get the proper distance cabling to my arm rest. We'lll see if the 30pin/lighting adapter will still work with that being the case.

Another issue that I asked in this forum that nobody answered is getting the song/artist info data to work via BT. Currently I put it on bluetooth and stream, but don't have any data which would be nice for the pandora etc.

If anyone with this setup or similar can offer some advice I'd appreciate it.

Thought I'd join in with my findings.

I have been following this thread since the launch of the iPhone 5 last month and thought I'd bring everyone up to speed with my experiences.

I bought the iPhone 5 when it came out and ever since then my iPad 2 has been acting as an iPhone stand in prior to the release of the lightning connector. I say has been, because a couple of weeks ago the original supplied cable disintergrated (unsurprising seeing as it is made of the most brittle plastic ever invented i think), and i bought a KCU-445i which I can confirm does NOT work with the X305.

I found this out the hard way thanks to Alpine's non-existent description coupled with the fact that it would appear that they not only don't stock the correct part any more, but also fail to make any reference on the website to the fact that it ever even existed in the first place.

Having returned that, I have now ordered "09-14676Z01" which may (or may not be) the same thing as KCU-440i however I can't confirm this either.

If anyone is still after this part, you can get it here

Lightning cable has now also been ordered, so I will update the forum on my findings once everything is in my possession and set up.

Unfortunately, the camera on my iPhone 5 has now died and it is being returned to Apple tomorrow. I'm beginning to think that the gods of car audio are conspiring against me and are determined that I never again listen to anything apart from FM radio.

Hey ho.

For what its worth: iPhone 5, iPad 2, X305 (Not S)
