ios 6 on 4s now no text message tone

Keep us informed. I am glad you reported this issue. Seems it is affecting all of us.

Glad you reported to Apple. However, on my 4s, since the upgrade, even the stock tones randomly work if the messages are open. I too have missed many messages. Hope they fix and acknowledge there is a bug.

If messages are open, you should not get any tone.

Just noticed the same behavior on my Voice Mail sounds. Stock tones work (At least the default tri-tone).

Can anyone verify that they are experiencing this too?? I want to update the ticket with Apple, and it would be good to know that the problem is somewhat consistent with people also haveing the TXT tone issue.

I found this problem after upgrading from an iPhone 3Gs to 5.

The problem occurs when you just restore your iPhone 5 from the back up of your older phone.

This problem can be rectified by doing the following......

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings

This will not delete any data from your phone other than settings brought over from the older phone and iOS.

You will however need to re add your WiFi settings, Notification Settings, Wallpaper/Lockscreen (If not using the original) All these files will still be on your phone as nothing is deleted doing this.

The things you need to redo are a really simple fix to fix this issue.

Worked for me and custom text tones are now working as they should.

Hi Guys i have the same problem on my Iphone 4, all was working great until i upgraded to ios6, i send a message but i dont get a tone or vibrate with the reply, i have to keep checking to see.

Everything is switched on as it should be so i know thats not the issue

Have missed loads of txts so i hope apple sort this soon

Apple Support asked me for copies of my custom tones on Friday. Hopefully this means that they are working on figuring it out.

I always had iMessage turned off. Prior to ios6 I always got the notification sound. After upgrade I no longer received notification sound if the message was open. Tonight I decided to reset all settings. Still no tone. Then I turned iMessage on, and now I'm receiving the notification tones at all times again.

I am not getting text notifications either and I am most unhappy about it. Will be calling Apple later today.

I called Apple this past Sat. and again this morning. This morning they said they are working on the problem, but have no idea when it will be fixed. It was bad enough not getting text notices or hot having my phone ring, but while running errands today I couldn't get any map/routes to work. No matter what I used it said it couldn't find my home address. So there I was, stuck in the 'burbs, having to find my way the ol' fashioned way. I had to use the compass on my car and aim west.

I feel Apple needs to issue a massive apology along with a vow to get this resolved sooner rather than later. I had planned on not getting my upgrade until my iPhone 4 died, but in many senses it HAS died.

Apple, I want to love you again, but you are making it really, really hard!

I will be sneering at you tomorrow during the press conference and it will take some fancy salesmanship to to get me to buy whatever you will be telling us about.

If you are having problems and haven't called Apple please do so now. Both people I spoke to stressed the more that complained, the faster staff would be assigned to fix things.

Well, after weeks of fighting with Apple to no avail, all they could come uo with was to do a restore. Another BS response from Apple in not wanting to work with their users to troubleshoot bugs. Knowing that 6.01 was on the horizon, I decided to wait to see if that upate would miraculously cure the problem like updates have so many times before.

Just installed the 6.01 update and VOILA! problem has gone away and my custom tones once again fucntion for VM and SMS,

Recently i got the same problem, i was very much frustrated thought of throwing iPhone but HOLD ON, Think its "APPLE" after a lots of reserarch i can see my "DO Not Distrub is ON and not Scheduled", for testing purpose i have just disabled the DND option checked by sending dummy mesg from another phone... ITS WORK's fine.

Setting > Do Not Distrub, schedueld it or OFF it, it will workfine.

Try IT once......

After updating, I too am not receiving any text alerts. I have too missed important texts, as I am used to leaving my phone 4s in my purse & just hearing my texts when they arrive.
