iPhone 5 short battery life?

I was lucky and got my new phone yesterday, but the battery barely lasts. After checking my email for about 30 seconds i lose 2%. I made sure nothing was running in the background, but the drain is worse than my 3GS I just upgraded from. Any suggestions?

I am on 6.1, the problem started under 6.02 a few weeks ago. I first tried the restore and used a prior backup. Did not work.

The app is called System Status. There is a free (lite) version. I got the $1.99 version. Here's the link:

Again, under iPhone 5, the app showed no unusual CPU usage, but it did when I had a battery problem with the iPhone 4.

Sort of. I always update my apps. It was not until the last two I mentioned above that the phone seems to be running as it should. My guess -- and it's only a guess -- is that some app was affecting the battery life. I expected to see it in the CPU usage of the System Status app, but did not. Can an app cause a conflict and adversely affect the battery? Maybe. But I can tell you up until the last two apps were updated, it was running very warm to hot, and draining incredibly fast. It's been less than two days, but it seems OK. The last app I updated was the Apple REMOTE app. If you have that app, try updating or deleting it to see if it helps (you can always add it again). I cannot say for sure if that app was the cause, or perhaps until it was updated it conflicted with another....

I've been experiencing short battery life on iphone 5 too and its really bothering me. I always charged it overnight and it was 100% in the morning, and its 4pm now and i only have 12% left. The battery wont even last me the whole day! I didnt do anything special on my phone and i constantly close all the apps after using it. The LTE is off and i updated my phone to iso 6.1, my sister has the 4s with iso 6.1 too and at the end of the day, she will have about 30% left while i have none. Is this a common software problem or should i go in the apple store to exchange it?

Here is what have solved my battery drain issue. I have turned off bluetooth, tuned off push to all my emails and switched to manual. Now I can go for 2 days on one charge, before I could do only about 5 hours. Sad but what can you do... They don't have Steve Jobs anymore to kick their behind and come up with a great product. This is my last Iphone period

OK. Wow.

Yesterday after 15h standby and 7h of use I had like 30% in the end of the day.

Today- after 7standby and 4of use - 20% now.

Where is the problem?!?!

I just noticed that if I use clash of clans game too many times my battery drains much faster! But I actually only play like 5 min and then close the game- yeah: close. And after some time(1-2h) I play another 5 min.

SO I was playing the game today for ~30-40 min MAX.
