    I got the same problem.  I spent almost 1 week trying to resolve this. Reboot the ipad, reboot my router, delete the network, rejoin the network. Nothing seems to work. I called the Apple support, spent 2 days. Wifi is horrible, Facetime bad quality, poor connection.

     

    After trying everything, the Support told me to:

    - Go to iTunes.Back up all your data, transfer all purchases to your computer. Of course when I tried to transfer all my purchases, they stuck for hours, then crash everything. I had to redo this 3 times. HOURS!!!

    - Restore your iPad from your iTunes. It will erase everything in your iPad, then start fresh as new

    - Turn off your iPad

    - Turn off your router, give it 10-15 minutes, turn on your router

    - Turn on your iPad, join the network

     

    Even though finally it looks ok. I am still going to return this iPad and get a replacement. I just don't feel confident with the device anymore. I just bought my iPad less than 3 months, still got the box. The support told me I could swap my iPad, all I need is to see the Apple Genius. So I made appointment, otherwise the Genius won't see you.

     

    I got tons of questions again from the Genius. He said it is my router problem. Basically, I have a crappy router that came from my internet provider. He said that since they opened the store, he only knew TWO people came in with WIFI issue. I told him, all my other devices connect just fine... but of course, they're "oranges" not Apple.

     

    I thought I'll be getting my replacement right away, but no.. Genius had to place an order first, and they will call me again, and I have to make another appointment to pick it up. I wonder why they don't have one in stock. It's the NEW iPad!!! I hope they're not getting my replacement from some kinda refurbished factory.

     

    This is my first purchase with Apple. So far it is not a pleasant experience.

    Sorry to say, the new iPad isn't going to be any better.  It's most definitely an iOS 6 issue.

    they said.. it's my router problem, it's crappy. not a very good answer for a new customer. this is my first purchase in Apple world. and it is not a cheap toy.

     

    the Support say.. "you have 1 more week before your online support expired, would like to pay $50 to extend it?"..

    I was like "I'm getting it replaced. Why would I pay more support for things that you screwed up?? and my iPad still under the warranty". anyway.. sorry for venting out.. not a good experience today.

    i spoke with 3 different Apple supports, and 1 Genius.. none of them admitting that it's iOS 6 problem. and even giving impression that they haven't heard of this problem at all.

    Sorry about the problems you're having at the Apple store. I cant believe they're being this ridiculous about all of this. I usually have great experiences when I go.

    Yes, the customer support girl I spoke with for apple said there wasn't any information abou an issue that she know of and reported it. That's why I'm saying people need to call in and tell them. I also mentioned it was not a router or wifi issue and it was not localized. I gave as much detail as possible stating that I've been on FaceTime everyday for over a year and VERY RARELY had any issues with connection, only AFTER updating to iOS 6 was there immediately a downgrade in quality!

    I will say though that yesterday it only disconnected once and shows poor quality and reconnecting a couple times and picture was clear overall. Today also was fine and seemed to be no issue. I'm sorry for others that are still facing issues(pun naturally intended) and I do hope this will be fixed. I'd give those Geniuses and anyone else what for by giving them a mouthful in detail of how I've never had an issue with my router/Internet. Unless any of you have had those issues but still it is obvious that the problem became exponentially worse after the iOS 6 update and why is that and how can it be adjusted and put right again.

    I agree. Today, I had much less of an issue with FaceTime in general. At first it was choppy and bad quality, but after about 5 min it was back to good quality picture and great frame rates. It didn't have to reconnect once! I'll still check on it, but maybe things are better.

    The IOS6 is horrible. I just downloaded and I am having connection problems with FaceTime. I did not upgrade the iPhone just because of this. Reconnecting network or network lost.

    looks like i'm not the only one with this problem..

     

    this is very upsetting since i've only switched back to a 4S (from a HTC/Android) a couple of months ago because my gf (whom i'm in a very long distance relationship with) convinced me that it's so much better than Skype. and she was right until i upgraded to iOS 6 and since then i've had the same problem as you guys...

    it's super frustrating when u spent 5 mins just saying hello. is this even gonna be fixed..?

    Ever since I installed IOS6 in my iPad 2, I always get the "Poor Connection" message. Very annoying and frustrating when you're trying to communicate and continuously get the black screen/poor connection problem.  PLEASE FIX!!!!!!

    I have noticed the same thing!  I didn't think nothing of it until it happend while facetiming my wife and kids at home.  I'm on OS6 and they are still on 5.  She didn't have that message at all come up and I was seeing it about every 10 minutes on a pretty good WiFi connection.  I switched over to LTE on my iPad and no issues.  Streamed smoothly for the next 15 minutes.

    Same experience here after updating to ios 6.  Facetime has been horrible over wi-fi.  It can't be my router because my macbook pro's facetime over the same wi-fi connection doesn't get the same poor quality message. I hope somebody can find a solution for this.

    I too am having this issue as is my daughter, 500 km away, who I FaceTime everyday.

    Very frustrating. Think ill switch to Skype until they fix it.

    I have the same problem. The app it self is buggy. And connectivity problems are across the board, including on the mac.  iOS 6 unfortunately has put us all down. Everything seems half baked..

    I have just discovered this issue yesterday. I'm in the military and my wife is back home in texas and we can't have a conversation without my Macbook Pro becoming choppy and then her getting the connection error. At one point i actually got a red screen in my own camera image and then she recieved that connection error yet again. Reading throughout the post we all have some reason why its important to us to get this problem resolved. Hopefully Apple will get on this soon because this is just a little ridiculous
