My iPhone 5 speaker does not work properly.

I have 64gb white iPhone 5 running ios6

same here. Siri sounds rough all the rest of the sounds are soft and not bright, probably a speaker issue. I could easily say 4s sounded great compared to 5.

Funnily enough I found if you plug in headphones, play music stop and remove Siri sounds better. But as you said 4s was much better

Same problem on 32GB black... As noted by other users... Sound of keypad & screen shut off is quieter than iPhone 4/4S

Same problem here. When at full volume while listing to a song, volume fluctuates and some distortion now and then. Really hope a software update will resolve this.

I found this thread because I've just noticed this exact issue.

I'm getting a replacement iPhone 5 next week anyway (bright red stuck pixel on this one), so I'll test for this and report back 🙂

I have the same problem too!! Listening to the music on the iphone on speaker over long period gives me a headache. Isnt the speaker supposed to be better?

Does Apple has anything or any comment to let us know what's causing the problem?

Hope we get a software update soon or even confimation there is a problem with the speaker or il be taking mine back for a third iphone

Yes replacement the same the problem isn't drastic only when on full volume

I am also having the fluctuating volume when the volume is maxed,first thing I did was a search for this. I have a Verizon 16GB iPhone 5.

I'm having the same problem. Any word from Apple?

I just spoke with apple support. She had me do a hard reboot and reset all the settings. Neither worked. Next step is to restore the phone to original settings. If that doesn't work I need to mail my phone in and wait several weeks for a new one or pay $29 and only wait three days. Not cool.

Don't bother with the restore mate, just wait and see if it's fixed with the next software update. I'm on handset number 3 (first one had a stuck pixel, and on the second one, the rear panel creaked and cracked when handled), and they've all had this issue with the speaker.
