2011 MacBook Pro won't turn on... At all.

My 13 inch MacBook Pro will not turn on at all. It randomly shut off while I was using it and now it won't come back on. The light on the charger is faintly blinking... But it is no longer charging. I tried a different outlet, and a different MacBook charger... Nothing. The screen is completely black and none of buttons or keys are responsive. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it seems that it shut off not even one second after I connected my iPhone to it via USB. I guess I should include that this was the first time my iPhone was connected to my MacBook since upgrading to ios 6.0. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Wooohoooo!! I did everything - waited 30 hours, waited 12 more hours, tried to do the reset - nothing nothing nothing. Then, I took the back off and watched a video how to disconnect the battery (fyi, you don't even need to unscrew the battery - all you need to do is disconnect the thing-y from the motherboard - or something like that - and wait 15 seconds or so for good luck, and reconnect).... and... guess what???? I'm back in action. woohoo!!!!

Btw, my battery is at 51% even after the 48 hours or so - computer wasn't on, so wasn't draining. To be honest, I don't think you need to wait all that time, just shut it down and disconnect/reconnect and it should work.

It was definitely a short due to the 3rd party cable - which I have since thrown away!!

Thanks for all the detailed comments and help!!

I have the same case like others in this thread. My mac pro was dead when the battery is 86%. I found this thread and literally wait day by day. My macbook is a late 2011 with unibody version which i can't remove the battery. On my forth day the mac giving a sign of living when i plug in the macsafe and the bright green indicator turn to orange after a while( it just give a faint green colour before). and now the macbook is struggling to be normal as i can heard the sound of fan and battery is charging normally. all document is still safe. My advice.. Just wait very patiently!! And dont use usb cable other than apple product. Good luck

This thread saved yet another mac pro ....

in my case removing the battery and plugging it in again didnt do the trick. neither did using a replacement battery work... had to leave the mac with the same battery to drain completely no led battery charge indicator turned on... left my mac for a couple of weeks.

Plugged it back... and it just fired up as usual...

Thanks a bunch folks...

I had the same problem a week ago, my MBP early 2011 suddenly died , of course i had a mini heart attack as i didn't know what was happening. I have searched the internet for the problem , tried reseting the SMC , PRAM etc. and nothing. I took the back case off unplugged the battery and there you go my macbook was working only on power chord. I've replugged the battery and nothing, same problem , faintly light on the power chord and no response for my macbook. Freaked out again, it came to my mind to unplug the battery again and try reseting the smc with the power chord plugged(to mention that my macbook was woking perfectly without the battery plugged) and after reseting SMC and PRAM got it working again as usual with the battery plugged.

DID IT AGAIN : today my macbook did the same trick on me, and after another mini heart attack and a research on the internet found this thread and saw the post about USB going wrong.I realised then that i was using a wireless USB cheap mouse and that could be the problem. So, now i will try using without it and see if it does it again. To mention that my battery health is normal . Greets and thanks lot to everyone posting to this thread.

I have the same issue and this didn't just happen once...but twice since I updated to Yosemite or what ever its called. Its frustrating and the worst is that you can't even get help right away. You have to go true paying phone call or hope you get an appointment in a few days. For the price of Apple items the calls should be a standard service. Im so annoyed.

I have this same problem. My computer has been, for lack of a better phrase, unused since december. At the time it was working fine. Now when I try to turn it on, it doesnt turn on. When I connect the magsafe adapter, the light on the adapter is green, and when i press the battery level button, the small lights blink green. When I hit the button without the adapter, nothing happens.
