iMessage & Facetime Activation Error

I am trying to activate iMessage and Facetime but getting the following error message: "The username or passowrd was incorrect. Try again." although my username and password are both correct. Please, help and advise.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6

I have the same problem.

iMessaage worked oerfectly till I tried to edit the email addresses I use for iMessage, tried to remove all of them so it'd use only the email I use on Apple ID, it removed all the emails and when I tried to reverify it didn't let me. I turned iMessage off then on and now I'm facing the same problem, incorrect user name or password even though I'm perfectly sure they are right.

I live in Egypt and I have an iPad2

Hello, can you please do the following:

1. create a new account of apple using different email addresses refferenced in the original email. then try using the new account on the devices in question. the second thing, please try the orginal id on new devices, possibly a friend device or one at apple store.


the first one worked for me. a new account works fine with no issues. the second one didnt as i tried many devices with the old account to no success.

Hi,

I already created a new Apple ID and it is working just fine on my iPhone 5.

And also I already tried my original Apple ID on all devices I have (iPad 2, iPad 3, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5) and it is not working on all of them. so it is clearly that the issue is with the Apple ID it self.


Currently I am using the new Apple ID for iMessages and FaceTime as a temporary solution, but of course I prefer to use my original one.

I had the same problem with my iPhone 4 and then iPhone 5 , in both cases my iPad could still use IMessage, rang Vodafone an they said I had to have credit in my phone when I topped up in credit done a soft reset and both time iMessage worked , I had previously tried all other suggestions like reboot, different apple Id , hope it works for others

Having the same problem with my wife's iphone 4, ipad2 and her macbook after updating to mountain lion and ios6. Apple ID not being recognized despite being able to access email and icloud account online. Tried all the trouble shooting things. No go. My ipad2, imac and iphone 4s all ok when updated. Seems to be bug that only affects a few people. She doesn't want to change her apple id as she's had it for years and it is also her email.


Please APPLE, fix this soon.

I had a similar issue but mine said cannot verify username and password.


To resolve this i went to generals: App store and clicked on my apple id. when a pop up shows click on view Applie id account. There select the payment process and select NONE in the type of card instead of your visa or mastercard. save it and then you can try getting into facetime., It should be good. It worked for me. I was an original poster on this thread and to be honest I don't know what happened, but it finally accepted my apple ID and password for both FaceTime activation and for messages. I didn't do anything besides restart my phone and a few day ago I tried to enter the info in again and it worked. The only thing that might have changed was that I selected to NOT use cellular data for FaceTime. I had tried that before, but not before I restarted my iPhone. Regardless, for me here in Qatar, it works.
