Doesn't mean its Apple's fault. Sometimes on a glitch of the system they would work despite being blocked but if you turned it off and then on it wont work. May be that was the case with you.

Try switching your Apple iD to US store...activate the services then back to Omani store. I don't know how you can fix the number activation though

Hey everyone, I'm from the caribbean and was having similar problems with my iPad Mini.

The only current solution is this: Facetime and iMessage/Messages can only be activated if your Apple ID is registered in the US, Canada or the UK. Of course the only way you can change your Apple ID country to one of those mentioned is if you have a credit card from those countries.

Luckily, I have a Canadian credit card since I spend alot of time there and was able to overcome this obstacle.

Hopefully, Apple will fix this bug ASAP

Cheers!

Ok, I'm from Egypt and I had this iMessage and FaceTme problems (as you can see from my previous posts) and I have managed to solve this problem and now I'm sharing the solution for you.

Apparently, what the gentleman/woman up said is true, you really can't activate FaceTime or iMessage unless you had a US store linked Apple ID. To do that, you don't need anything abut a fake address in one of these countries (you can find one online or use that of a friend of yours who lives in any of these countries).

Now, go to the App store app, click on your apple ID then click on view apple ID then insert your password then change your coutry or region, your billing address, postal code and set your payment method to none. Then sign out, close the app then back in. Then go to settings and sign into iMessage and FaceTime. You can choose to continue using the US store or you can switch back to your own country's store (the apps and media you purchased can only be downloaded at no additional cost only from your home country store using your apple ID, if you chose to stay with the US you'll have to switch back everytime you want to download a paid app on your device that you purchased before but they are never lost)

You can search online for any fake/real address in the US and use it as a billing information.

You can use iTunes gift cards to purchase from the US store if you chose to stick with it.

I hope this anawer was useful.

Thanks.

I also had this problem for me and my son. Together we have 4 Apple ID's, no.1 for US iTStore, no.2 for local iTStore, no.3 iCloud use only, no.4 iCloud use only.

Accounts no 3 and 4 always fail to log into iMessage, but accounts no 1 and 2 work fine.

so I decided to test the theory by linking account no.3 with an iTStore. Did that by loggin in to the store with that username. So I had to set up an adress, agree to terms etc. etc.

And as soon as I had done this, signing in to iMessage worked with no problems for that account.

So for me at least it seems that the iTunes Store MUST recognize your AppleID in order to activate iMessage.

NOTE that setting up iMessage is different depending on if you have an iOS device that is a phone or not! The iPhones can activate iMessage with just their phone number (maybe the carrier can block that). But if you have an iPad or iPod touch, you are without a phone number and therefore must use an AppleID, and the AppleID you use must have been completely signed at least once into an iTunes Store.

THIS SOLUTION WORKED FOR US!

Also for iMessage and FaceTime Activation errors, make sure you walk through the iTunes store sign up, on the IOS device. Once signed up you can change the itunes store logon back to another logon, if you need or want to.

Settings -> iTunes & App Stores

Also, we encountered an error while doing the itunes store sign up, telling me to contact iTunes Support. I realized the birthday year was making the user I was helping less than 18 years old. It is a requirement to be at least 18, at least in the account. You can check that setting here: appleid.apple.com

Hi

I can't use my iMessage or FaceTime with my Oman Mobile number nor my Apple ID (No1) which the UAE Store, as I keep getting the same MSG " incorrect Apple ID and password" which I use it everywhere else. But I can iMessage using the same Apple ID on my IPad 1 without any problem.

Now I can just use my iMessage on my iPhone 4s IOS 6, with Apple ID (No2) which is USA Store but still not with my mobile number.

The FaceTime, doesn't activate as I keep getting "Waiting for activation" or should I say both.

So it seems something wrong with iPhone 4s (IOS6) as couple of my friends have the same problem.

Hope Apple solve this problem soon.

P.S I'll try to change the SIM card and see if that helps.

Finally, I solved it !!! 🙂

Several problems were tackling the solution in which after fixing them I solved the Original Issue. I would thank you all for the support and the clues.

Here are the problems and the fixes:

  • My Apple ID was on UAE App Store

    Changed it to Oman

    • Even after changing it to Oman I was not able to use it for FT or IM. I checked FT and IM with two other Omani Apple IDs and both perfectly worked, so I realized that the problem seems to be with my original Apple ID.
  • On Manage Apple ID tab, I found the followings:

Address1 field was having some wrong characters

    • Entered only the right characters into the filed which are accepted by Apple

Some wrong phone number entries were there (in terms of Country Code, Area Code and the Phone Number itself)

    • I entered my right details for the Phone Numbers

Some UAE iTunes notifications were ticked

    • I unticked them out

I would be happy to help anyone having the same problem or any other problems.

Best Wishes and Regards,
