DR-HD100 ProHD Portable HD Recorder

We just purchased the Focus Enhancements DR-HD100 HDD recorder which will record HDV from our JVC camera. Problem is, FCPro Studio will not import any of the .m2t files.

It shows file unrecognized error access denied error.

I can load these clips into MPEG Stream Clip app with no problem so I know they are legitimate 720p30 HDV streams.

Any comments?

My problem is FCPro will not recognize the 720p30 files from the Focus Enhancements drive. These are 720p30 .m2t files.

I've been using FCPro HDV 720p30 for quite a while now. Both in Apple native 720p30 HDV codec and also in the Apple Intermediate Codec. It's 720p24 you're thinking of that lacks support in FCPro. Im shooting in 30p

I've contacted Focus waiting for a call back. This is a very new unit released in the last weeks.

Heard from Focus E. Turns out the problem is one that FCPro HD does not support MPEG 2 transport streams.

The files stored on the Focus Ehancement HDR are just that.

So, in the mean time, the M2T files must be converted to a Quicktime wrapper in order for them to be imported.

Focus is working on an update that will allow their product to save the files in QT so no conversion is needed. So it's not plug and play.

Jerry, I might be misunderstanding your post, but I think the JVC will shoot in either 30p or 24p. Only the 24p clips are verboten in FCP. The problem, apparently, with the Focus Enhancements DR-HD100 is that it produces 720p30 HDV files that Final Cut can't read.

This is strictly a Focus Enhancements problem, and they're on top of it. ETF (Estimated Time till Fixed) unknown.

Sorry for the confusion. As you know the naming conventions of the FCP upgrades have been a bit confusing. We are runnning the latest FCP Studio with all upgrades applied. The one that supports HDV. It supports HDV capture in 720p30, but not 720p24. We shoot in 720p30.

The problem is with Focus Enhancements file type of .m2t which FCP can't read natively. As you know "HDV" is MPEG-2 and these files on the DDR are transport streams.

Focus told me they should have a patch for the firmware within a month. In the mean time the option is to convert the files to QT with MPEG Streamclip application.
