iPhone 5 USB stuck

I received my new IPhone 5 and pluged the USB cable into my laptop to sync with iTunes and the USB was stuck solid. I couldn't get it out no matter how I tryed. I ended up leaving it there or I would have had no way to charge the phone if I broke it. I pulled so hard that the casing came off.

I took the laptop into Apple and they pulled it out with pliers and gave me a new cable. When I got home I had a look at the old iPhone 4 USB up against the new iPhone 5 USB and you can see the difference inside. It looks like they have made it a tighter fit.

How many USB ports are going to broken with excessive pulling... And having to use pliers to get these USB's out. Big thumbs down to Apple for doing this. I hope they bring out new leads soon because I will not be game to sync my phone again for a very long time.

I too connected my I Pad4 to my laptop and it was stuck good. It just would not shift. The shop that supplied the iPad said Apple new of the problem and were changing the lightning leads. A bit late i would say! They said that the laptop would need to be sent away. After reading all the posts relating to how to remove it but without luck my husband finally got it out with a strip of credit card 12 mm wide which was firm enough and slim enough to push in from the top of the offending USB and release the lugs. Thanks for the help.

All these workarounds and solutions probably have some validity with some people. But my USB was well and truly stuck and I was unable to dislodge it either with credit cards or strips of celluloid film. I called my brother in

law, a precision engineer by trade, who opened his toolbox, and took out an 005 feeler gauge and inserted it on the underside of the USB plug ,nothing moved, he inserted a second, 006, alongside the first, then a third and a fourth 007 and 008 on the top side - and out it came! No harm done but really Apple have had their eye off the ball letting this POS through the QC.User uploaded file

I'm glad I read this. I am going to be buying an iPhone 5 in a week or so, and i just happened to stumble across this on the web. Definitley using wifi sync....another thing, I was reading this, and what with the conspiracy theorist I am, I thought "What if Apple is making it so iPhones can only be plugged into mac computers? (DUH DUH DUHN!!)" But then I saw post where the same problem is happening with macbooks. Oh well. Conspiracy ruined.😟

Glad to have found this. I have an iPhone 5 I purchased on pre-order (so it has whatever original lightening cable came with the phone) and had no previous problems with the charging cable, but I only used it with apple cube and my iMac. I bought a new car (finally one with a USB port!) and plugged in my iPhone and can't get it out! Don't want to have a useless USB port on my car as it is the only one and I need to charge the phone while driving. I also don't want to keep it in there permanently as the port might be needed for something else. I hope the suggestions I'm reading here will work to get it out.

Trick worked. I cut up what I had at hand, a clothing price tag, and it worked to stick between the USB head and the car's USB outlet. Will not be putting it in again until I get a new cable. I tried charging my phone with a lightening to iPhone 30 pin interface I had bought from a vendor at work with an iPhone 4 charger and it said it was not compatible for charging. So I guess I need to find a "fixed" official apple lightening cable to use in my car from now on. Is there really such a thing? Are new cables not getting stuck where old ones did?

Thanks MCLJ.....Same problem - different scenario, but SUCCESS

Using my new iPod lightning connector to a USB socket on my wired Mac keypad and V. stuck!

Thankfully found this forum ( little elsewhere on searches) before I gave in to the brute in me.

plastic card - fail

laminated card - fail

40 Thou metal feeler gague - Success (and easily)

I could at least have sacrificed the keypad - tough for those with bigger issues stuck in or broken off in a notebook or car.

Just bought an iPhone 5s today, and they still have this issue., I realized the easiest way to get the cable out from the computer without damaging the computer or cable was to use something thin, like the plastic pieces that are in mens shirts to keep to collar figure, or the board the sim card come attached to. Then stick it on the back side of the usb cable. Thats the side where there is no mark of a lightning. After you have done this, its easy to remove the cable. Just make sure you do it on the correct side.

Here you will find a video about how to do this:

This helped me a lot, hope it can help you guys reading this too!
