iPhone 5 4G LTE slow compared to Samsung Galaxy 3

I recently got an IPhone 5 and am on the Verizon network. I did a " speedtest.net" comparison with a friends Samsung Galaxy 3 and I am averaging 6-7 mps while on his Samsung ( also Verizon) he is averaging 26-27 mps ! Is there something wrong with my IPhone's antenna? I am a die hard Apple user and am disappointed. Has anyone else had the same experience?

I'm having similar issue with AT&T on 4G LTE. I'm only getting at best 3-5 mbs on the upload and 2-5 mbs on the upload. Images on Instagram often times won't load properly. While using WI-FI the images load properly but on a speed test it appears to be even slower at only 2-3 mbs on the upload. Uploading on Wi-FI is faster at around 5-8 mbs. This is pretty bad... I compared my old iphone 3gs using WI-FI and it is twice as fast as my iphone 5 running the same OS6. I hope this issue gets resolved quickly by an OS update or I'll have to make a trip to apple to the genius bar for a swap. I also had a nick in the aluminum at the top of the phone right out of the box.

Yep I'm having the same issue too. I used to have a Samsung galaxy S3 and my 4g speeds ranged anywhere between 15mbs-50mbs on Verizon's network. So far the best speeds my Iphone 5 has logged are right around 10mbs, averaging between 3-6mbs. I even took it to the Verizon store and all their other 4g phones were blowing my iPhone away on the speed tests. I have heard of wifi connectivity problems, but this is the first I have seen of another user (besides me) noticing 4g latency issues. I'll probably take it into the apple store next weekend to at least log the issue. I just put a 20 dollar screen cover on the phone so I really don't want to exchange it Unless I have to. Hopefully it just needs a software update. If I find anything else on this ill post an update

To add to my original post...day 2 of ownership and my IPhone 5 played the "No SIM card found game" for a couple hours. I got it to work again after taking SIM card out and putting back in a few times. If I have time I am going to try and swap the phone for a new one and will update the discussion on the results of speed test on the new phone.

Just got my iPhone 5 on Verizon (I switched from AT&T finally) and been testing it out over the weekend here in the DC metro Area. I must say right now, I couldn't be more disappointed. I never seem to have more than 2 bars of LTE service even standing outdoors. I was in a building yesterday and couldn't even get 3G let alone LTE. I am stunned how often the phone reverts to 2G or 3G service. I understand it in the subway tunnels to a certain extent, but standing in an open field with 300+ feet of open space in every direction and having barely 2 bars of LTE seems really subpar. I even ran a speedtest right now sitting in my office with 2 different apps and even though I have 2 bars of LTE neither of them showed speed of over 1 Mbps. I don't know if it is my phone or if its the network but I am not happy with my experience right now so far. I'll give it a few more days, maybe try restoring and setting up again or a trip to the Genuis Bar later this week, but if this is what I am getting for my money, I will either go back to AT&T or go back to my iPhone 4.

I have an iPhone 4S and I have an Samsung s3 .. I just did a speed test on both phones my iPhone 4S averages around 7-11 mbps download n 3-4 Mbps upload and it's on 3G

But my galaxy s3 gives me around 42-53 Mbps download 22-35 upload .... I mean it all depends on the area you in .... Must be highly populated with high numbers of people using lte and 4g data .... Talk to your carrier over the phone if you go to there store those guys don't know anything they just sales rep... Better to talk to your carriers networking or high end specialists ...
