I love my new iPhone but after trying for two hours to pair it with my Pioneer AVIC-X930BT car stereo/navigation system yesterday, I gave up.
I did go to the Pioneer website and have ordered a firmware upgrade microdisk issued in 2011 and am really hoping that will fix it.
Anyone else having pairing problems with the new iPhone 5?

I also could not get my phone to pair with my car stereo. It's the stock system for the 2011 Impreza. The phone recognized the car but every time I tried to pair the two it failed.
I love the bluetooth connectivity in my car so I hope this can be resolved.
Yes - same thing for me. The phone recognized the car's system but every time I tried to enter the pairing code, the screen on the car's navigation system said something like "failed to connect".
I'm hoping this is just a glitch that will be easily fixed.
Pioneer called me today and they don't have an iPhone 5 yet so can't test this. They said they expect their iPhone 5 to be delivered Oct 3rd. At that time they will do some testing.
In the meantime, I've ordered the 2011 firmware update and when that gets here, I'll install it and see if it helps.
This needs to get fixed - I rely on the bluetooth connection for my phone when driving.
I have a pioneer AVIC-Z130BT navigation unit in my truck. I was able to pair the Bluetooth to my iphone 5 today successfully. You have to hit "configure" on the unit (in the bluetooth settings menu) at the same time you have the phone in the Bluetooth setting menu. Then the pioneer unit after a few seconds will say to follow the instructions on your device (meaning the phone) then on the phone tap the pioneer bar and enter the four digit code that shows in your pioneer Bluetooth settings menu mine was defaulted to 1111. Hope this helps.
Nope - still didn't work. Your model is different. I upgraded the firmware in my AVIC-X930BT before trying again and still no luck.
Both the navigation system and the phone 'see' each other but won't pair.
I'm going to trot down to Car Toys (who installed the navigation system and see if they can get it to pair.

Ok - well..... I hate to admit this but.......
I guess I was using the wrong pairing code.
We were able to get them paired just fine.
