OS X 10.8.2 freezes frequently

Since I have upgraded to OS X 10.8.2 freezes frequently as soon as finder detects a Windows Executable file (.EXE).

Even if the .exe file is just selected with the mouse, MAC OS crashes immedialtely. Before 10.8.2 I had no problems whatsoever with those .exe files which I sometimes need for my windows PC.

Does anyone have a cure how to overcome the problem?

With best regards

Marc

I have a late 2008 Mac Book Pro (2.66 Core 2 Duo) and had the same problem. Additionally I have replaced my HDD with a Crucial M4 and my CD-RW with an OCZ Vertex2 using an optibay.

The fix in My case was the Firmware upgrade of the Crucial M4 SSD from Rev 000F to 010G.

The Vertex 2 also got an upgrade to version 1.37

I keep my OS on the Crucial M4 and my Home on the OCZ.

Hope this helps someone.

Looks like Apple, in the 10.8.2 Combo changed some drivers for the SSDs and firmware upgrade is mandatory on the nonsuported SSDs.

Thank you.

I am having the same problem ever since upgrading to 10.8.2 - OS completely locks up, no spinning ball, just totally frozen. Usually happens within a matter minutes after booting up. My machine has basically become completely useless. I can't get any work done. Worst experience with an Apple product I have had since I started using Apple products back in 1985.
