Having owned my iPhone 5 for 2 days now I've noticed that when I've been using it for about 5 minutes the back becomes really quite hot and the battery seems to be running down fairly rapidly. Does anyone know the cause of this and is there anything that can be done to remedy the problem? Cheers
When you're on 4G it drains your battery mutch faster and your iphone gets hot. If your not using it i recomand you turn it off.

I JUST BOUGHT an iphone 5s, I have it plugged in to charge it up. I've used it for 2 minutes and it is too hot to put next to my face. I also had to go to speaker- because the regular volume was too low.

So I'm having a similar issue, I've had my iPhone 5 just over a year and a half now and it's great best phone I've ever had however I do find that when I'm using my 3G and I'm downloading off iTunes or generally browsing the internet the phone seems I get abnormally warm plus the battery goes flat very easily I could be on 100% in the morning two hours later I'm down to 30%.. It's kind of annoying because I rely on it and I do use it loads and loads but I thought they were built to handle this? Possibly a faulty battery maybe?

My experience is that updating the OS help somewhat. It is no longer that too hot. If you have some concerns about it, simply return it if you can, or else just go to apple and request for some service.
I got an iPhone 5s on my birthday in June, and had the same overheating problem that other people had - I browsed through this forum looking for some solutions and in the process found that the 'battery and usage' section had a bit to offer in terms of my issue (Setting>General>Usage>Battery Usage)
In that section, I noticed that there was a breakdown for the battery usage of all my apps - which I believe is a feature in the most recent iOS version, and saw that the background activity for Facebook was responsible for 95% of my last 24 hours of battery usage! Whilst the app background refresh option was enabled, I found that my iPhone would overheat, and the battery would deplete very quickly, but since disabling the app refresh, and a few other things found here: 'http://www.zdnet.com/pictures/improve-iphone-ipad-battery-life-ios-9/23/' I have had my iPhone on and idle for about 45 mins, and the battery has only gone down 2% whereas before doing those things, it was draining roughly 1% every couple of minutes or so.
