iPhone 5 time and date issues

So, I activated my vzw iPhone5 Saturday. Very much enjoying it. Woke up yesterday and was very confused because my phone thought it was 8/26/12 and 30 minutes later than the actual time. I reset network settings and it self resolved...until this morning. I woke up and looked at my phone and had a melt down because my alarm never went off. I hurriedly got ready and looked at the microwave as I ran out, and it was 30 minutes earlier than my iPhone said.

My iPhone apparently is doing something weird and reverting to 8/26/12 + 30 minutes while I (and it) sleep. It throws off iMessage and I'm sure the rest of the date/time dependent apps, so I've turned off the automatic time setting for now, and its fine now (so far lol). But I would like to know what the real issue is if possible!?! Is it my phone? VZW? Does it matter?

Thanks in advance :0)

But I realized that the process of sending the device back to the U.S. is not simple. People should get there with the device. This is the only way. No other solutions? I do not know anyone who flies and get there for me it's impossible.

Israel realized that you can not exercise their responsibilities. My question then is whether the device was bought in New York I exercise the responsibility elsewhere like Las Vegas? Why Apple will not solve this problem?

This problem persists even if you put a GSM SIM card in it. It is still connecting to CDMA towers (Straight Talk). I've tried manually installing an earlier carrier file, resetting network settings, putting a new GSM SIM in it, pretty much everything all of tech support prompts read by three or four different companies, and nothing works.

I really don't know what to do except get another, non-CDMA phone. It has to, has to be a Verizon/CDMA issue, my girlfriend has an ATT iPhone running on the same provider but different network and it has no issue.

I have an entire office experiencing this issue on iPhone 4, 4S & iPhone 5 models. It only happens when these folks enter the office, not at home, or on the street. This started a few weeks ago on the iPhone's. So the problem is clearly not tied to a specific model of iPhone. The only constant I thought was Verizon & IOS 7.

One employee had a company iPhone 4 (not IOS 7) and a personal iPhone 4S (IOS 7) - when in NYC the company phone experienced this problem, while the personal phone did not. Both phones are on Verizon. Darn, I really thought I could narrow down the problem to Verizon in my case, that shoots that theory down.

Now, I can also add another wrinkle to the mix...

I now have an employee today who contacted me that his Android a Motorola on Verizon's network has begun doing the same thing when he is in the NYC area. He does not live in NY. He only sees the problem when he travels to NYC.

Something tells me this problem is NOT going away anytime soon....

Thanks for your reply - I do have a Verizon network extender, it's the only way to get reliable service in our office. When the problem first started, that was the first thing I suspected. I shut that down for an entire week and didn't see any difference. I have since powered that back up seeing as it did not solve the problem.

Thank You your suggestion is much appreciated !

This happened from January 21st through the 28th in the Chicago branch of our company's offices. On the 28th it mysteriously stopped. Yesterday (February 25th, 2014) it started up again. It's only affecting iPhone 5 users with Verizon service. Our best guess is that Verizon does some sort of monthly system update that's affecting them. A co-worker here in LA says that his brother had the same issue. He was told that it has to do with a specific cell tower type. Perhaps the towers’ software or firmware is updated regularly?

I had the same issue that you all described - phone not keeping time properly, wi-fi dropping out, randomly shutting down, not able to hang up on some calls. After going to the apple store they suggested that I do a full factory reset of the phone. I tried it - it didnt work. I went in the next day and they looked at the error log on the phone and found that my bluetooth was constantly crashing (crashed and restarted 50 times in 24 hours) and this was taking up the memory of the phone, hence other functions were not working. End result - they replaced the phone on the spot.

I am having the same time issue too plus other "odd" things happening...for example, I was texting yesterday and when I hit send....my text completely disappeared!!!! This happened over and over again until I rebooted my phone...then when it booted up...the text suddenly reappeared!! I can't believe that Apple is not addressing this problem with the 5C's....it obviously is not user error!
