People having time issues please do the following.

Go to settings-general-about and change the name of your phone

    To any name you like

But make sure it does not have an apostrophe

    On the name

This should fix your time issue

Please let me know if this fixed your issue.

Hi, thank you for the suggestion.   I spent a few hours on the phone with tech yesterday and tried a few more trouble shooting ideas which included me having to reset my phone to factory defaults...with no success unfortunately. (these were in addition to the suggestions I rec'd from the community's post and tried myself).

Removed the apostrophe from Phone Name and rebooted the phone.  The time issue is still not fixed.

Tried almost everything, nothing seems to work. I live in New Zealand and have this issue. Called my network company and they said its nothing to do with them and they can't do anything. I think it might be a fault with the iPhone 5. not sure though

After getting very annoyed with my iPhone 5 i decided to disassemble the phone completely and reassemble and has so far been working great, my time and wifi issues have vanished. Must of been a loose connection?

My iPhone 5c started losing time this week.  The clock runs slow.  When I turn it off and back on, it corrects to the right time.  However, it will randomly start losing time again.  Last night I had it plugged in to recharge and the clock lost time again.  Since I use it as my alarm clock, I overslept.  I am going to try your suggestion about changing name of phone.  Also have tried doing the other suggestions listed in this thread.  Will have to wait to see if problem continues.

I have the same problem still. I have tried everything except dissemble. It's obvious this has been a problem for two years now. Why isn't there a fix for this bug with the 5's? It is messing up my iMessaging as well as snapchat. Also if my WiFi is on and connected to a router, the phone will just switch between cellular data and the WiFi data. I am going to set up an appointment at the Apple Store, hopefully they will know something.

Hi General Settings Time & Date set to Auto. Cheers Brian

I've tried that. I've restarted, reset, airplane, turned off LTE, changed the phone name, nothing works.

Another option that worked for me are these.

    • Simply turning “Set Automatically” to OFFthen back ON.
    • Going to Utilities > Clock and removing the World clocks, then switch the phone off and on again.
    • Hard rebooting the phone by holding down the home and on / off button at the same time (until the Apple logo appears).
    •        OR
    • Go to Settings > General > Date & Time.
    • Turn the “Set Automatically” option to OFF
    • Plug the phone into your computer and sync it using iTunes.
    • Go back to the Date & Time options page and switch “Set Automatically” back to ON.

My iPhone 5c was working perfectly until I upgraded to IOS 8.1.2.    My wife has the same phone and luckily I saw my time issue quickly after updating so I did NOT update hers.  Her phone is still running 8.1 and she has NO issues with time.

I removed/reinserted my SIM card on Saturday...it immediately picked up the correct time and was good for about 4 hours.

I think in my case, if it goes to sleep (screen goes blank) it will lose time, even if the time has been set manually.

Leaving the display on all the time is a battery drain though.

I am not liking my first experience with iPhones.   I want my Android back.  Luckily I saved my wrist watch.
