iPad 2 - IOS6 - Importing photos from camera not working

Everything was fine until today. Using Sony Rx100. W

I had same problem last night trying to import photos from my Sony camera using camera connectors and it does seem to be since upgrading to OS6

In the end I rotated all the portrait photos directly on the camera 45degrees until they were landscape then re-imported them

This worked and I just rotated them back to portrait on the IPad

Lets hope Apple fix this as it was working OK before

I tried it. I have a Sony RX100 camera. On the playback option on the camera it has the option manual rotate, which I selected, then all portrait photos stay within landscape on the camera, and all got imported to the iPad. I wasn't sure from your post whether you rotated each individually, which would be a pain.

No I didn't have to rotate each pic. I just had to change a setting on my camera. Thanks for the feedback.

I put my camera on playback, then went to menu, then selected playback display, manually rotate. Hope that is helpful.

The same for me: I use Nex-5 jpeg+raw. Portrait does not get imported.

Being SDE myself, I'm quite surprised. All primary scenarios should be covered by automated test, so regression can be easily discovered and fixed. It is not a hard-to-find rare race condition, it is straight user operation. Appl guys must fix something in their test process.

I have the same problem with my Nikon D3 it will not import in portrait mode on my ipad 2 and iOS 6 big problem for me, get it sorted Apple or you will get the same reputation as Microsoft has "you could not care a jot"

i was watching because i had thid problem aftr successful imports. When I saw the posts on iPhoto, which I had recently installed, I deleted it and rebooted my iPad. The import went perfectly.

I have have the problem on regular basis. The funny thing is that after a reboot it works for some time. But then it reappears after some days. But a workaround that works for me is a rebook (just like we were used to do with Microsoft). Apple: please fix - you are supposed to be better than Microsoft

My experience shows that this is a problem when iPhoto is installed for specific large file size cameras. In my case, the problem appears for my 5DMkII (21MP) and not for my 7D (18MP) raw files in each case. It may not appear for smaller raw or jpeg file sizes.

Setting the lock switch on the sd card worked for me.

My problem was with the Camera Connection Kit, so the switch on the SD card was not involved (actually CF cards in the camera). The only thing I found that would fix the problem is to delete the iPhoto App and do a power off reset of the iPad.
