iPhone 5 bad call voice quality

Got the new iPhone 5 and have bad phone call quality. The recipient of the call seems to be able to hear me ok, but their voice either isn't there or drops out or sounds grainy like when you have bad cell reception. Many times, the calls have just not connected. I know that that my cell reception and the recipients cell reception were excellent. This has occured when calling other cell phones, land lines, and toll free numbers. Anyone else having this issue? Have an appointment at Apple tomorrow morning to see what they think.

Hello again folks,

i am investigating this with the robotic voices in IPHONE5. The problem seems to be is in many countries. So don't think so much about AT&T and others at this point.

German Deutsche Telecom say they have resolved the problem, but I am not sure that is the truth. Here is what I picked up:-

Update (19. For those of you who don't understand German:-We are glad to inform you that the error issue of the robotic voice will not appear anymore. Then they say that they have some small remaining works to do. And that most smartphones should be working by now...

WE WILL SEE AND HEAR...

Further, and this is what I believe could be an important thing to the problem- It seems to be many who have the problem in areas with poor reception. I have to move around to get a better signal. If anyone calls me, I have to tell them that I don-t hear them and that they have to call back again. Then it works most of the time. Remains only at times to step around a bit.

Here is my amateurish conclusion: Perhaps the Iphone5 tries to update or switch between 2G and 3G. There is a delay due to switching and this shuts down the signal periodically....?

So, friends, to help to resolve this, -you all who know about bad reception where you have the problem, let us know! And let Apple know. I am one of the few who have a direct and immediate e-mail communication with them through their swedish office- as good as that. Further, report if it is only YOU who don't hear THEM.

I hope I was clear in this and wish you good luck with your findings.

Hi. As I stated before that I had bought new iPhone in India and I was facing the same problem of call quality. Voice is not reaching to the opposite person n all. So I just got it replaced with a new one and so far its working properly. The opposite person can listen me properly as well as I can listen them properly. It's been a week that I got it replaced and till now no issues at all. Hope it keeps working the sane. Touch wood.

Wish Apple resolves all its users problems soon.

Regards.

Hi all,

I've had the same problem with my iphone 5 in the UK, with people being able to hear me but there voice either drops or sounds like a robot.

I went to my local apple store and told the genius of my problem and he said I was the first person he had heard of with this problem. He changed the receiver in the phone (which took only half an hour) and since then I have not had a problem.

Fingers crossed it will not happen again. Hope this helps at all.

Hello,
Same problem over here.

see youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp2y2zliPTk&feature=youtu.be

first deleted everything on my iphone so it is in factorysettings...

on Mobistar network in Belgium.

Apple Holland won't help me (pickup and replace the iphone) because i bought the iphone5 in Belgium and not on the applestore.com...

In Belgium we don't have an Apple store....

Another iPhone 5 user in Belgium here and on the Mobistar network. Tried everything: hard reset, reset network settings, reset all settings and even did a clean restore without backup. Every call I make or receive, people can hear me fine but they all sound like robots. You can't understand anything they say. On top of that, half the calls get dropped.

Called Apple Support and UPS will pick up my phone tomorrow. I'll have to miss it for two weeks. Didn't want to pay the extra €29 for a new phone (takes 4 days to arrive) and Apple blocking the full retail price on my creditcard again until they receive mine (within 10 days). I'll probably just go to the store for a 4S or another phone in the meantime but if the problem persists, I'm calling it a day with the iPhone 5. I need to be reachable 24/7 (job) and I can't rely on a €699 "iPod touch".

The call quality problem seems to be with the phone on the other end of the call. I have not had this problem with call quality until this day when someone with a Sony Xperia Z called me. The call quality was so bad that I had to listen very carfully to understand what the person said. One moment after I got a call from another friend who has an iPhone, the quality of that call is crystal clear. So I think we should stop blaming this on the iPhone itself, and maby look at what phone is used in the other end of the call.
