iPhone 5 Bluetooth issues with car

My iPhone 5 is having issues with Bluetooth and my car. It pairs with no problem and I can make calls with no problem. If my phone rings and I try to answer it with the car Bluetooth controls the call picks up then immediately goes back to listening to the radio... But the call is still connected and the phone thinks its still connected to "my car". So I need to quickly pick up the handset and switch the source to phone or the other person will hang up. If it helps the car is a 2010 Infiniti. Any ideas? I already tried re-pairing it. I also tried resetting the network settings.

Thanks in advance

I too have the exact same issue and tried with two different iPhone 5's with my M37. Incoming calls ring fine but when you click answer in the car - it appears to disconnect - if you go to the iPhone and then click audio source and toggle over to the iPhone then back to the car - it reactivates the car bluetooth. Sure hope someone fixes this soon!

FYI - I removed the bluetooth connection in the car and phone and repaired them just to see. Same issue.

Nothing but problems with Bluetooth on the iPhone 5. Will pair at times, but it won't work with my Mini Cooper Bluetooth system. It seemed to work for the first few days, but dropped a call th other day and no longer works. It seems to pair with my MacBook, but then when I try to connect, the connection under Bluetooth settings keeps the spinning wheel (on the right of the bluetooth connection on the phone) and never establishes connection. I've paired and unpaired several times, but it doesn't help. Definitely not happy with this phone. The iPhone 5 doesn't appear to be ready for prime time.

I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima and the experience has been the same as the Infiniti users. On an incoming call, either it disconnects or transfers to the phone and doesn't allow me to transfer back to the car.

Nissan has been responsive in the past with firmware updates so hopefully we will get one.

A few times I was actually able to receive calls properly bug it seems random.

I have the same problem with my brand new HSV R8 Tourer (Holden) - voice command or handset work fine to make the call but then silence at both ends!! Same with incoming calls. Bluetooth streaming of music, podcasts, etc. works perfectly. I've tried pairing several times, which works every time, but still silence during calls. Old 3GS worked OK. Very disappointing & frustrating!!!! Haven't tried Reidmans suggestion of manually selecting the handset, but it defeats the purpose of hands-free and it's illegal in Australia to handle your phone whilst driving. Hurry up and fix this Apple - it's spoiling my experience with an otherwise lovely phone.

Turns out, in addition to problems receiving calls, I had problems with bluetooth music streaming as well..music streamed but no track data showed on G37 nav display monitor and could not advance/replay tracks. Called in again to Apple Support. Told agent that older iPhones with iOS 6 are having similar problems based on responses to this thread. Agent claimed these problems are possible with new iOS upgrade due to software incompatibility with in car bluetooth profile. Was instructed, as a first step, to hard reset the phone and try again. Of course, like an intermittent problem with your car that never manifests when you take it the mechanic, everything worked perfectly--calls received and engaged with incar bluetooth, bluetooth streaming music data showed on monitor and I could advance songs. Agent suggested she call me back several times on my phone in my car and my wife's car, as well as her phone in both cars--everything worked fine. Still unconvinced, I asked what I should do if the problem recurred. She indicated the next step would have been to reset the network settings on the phones. Will update thread with ongoing experience. Would urge others to call in to Apple Support to increase the likelihood they will include a more permanent fix in the next IOS 6 update, which is likely to be coming soon.

Same problem here with my 2011 Inifiniti G37 - can't answer calls, blue tooth is intermittent, and can't play streaming audio (the worst part for me actually). Driving without access to my music apps like Spotify and Pandora are like starving an infant from milk.

1. Will try a hard reset.

2. Will try resetting network settings. 😐

3. Call apple crying if that doesn't work. 😢

4. Pray that apple provides update if none of the above work. 😕

5. Go back to iPhone 4. 😟

I have a 2013 Malibu and I have having a bad time with the bluetooth on my iPhone 5... Pairs fine, allows me to make calls then it gets fun. When someone calls me I answer via the MyLink screen or the steering wheel and it automatically goes to the phone speaker not the car (my iPhone 4 when right to the car). I actually called AppleCare and they determined that the antenna was bad and told me to go to the Apple Store to replace phone. Replaced the phone with a new phone today and same issue. I can actually see the bluetooth logo go on and off on the MyLink screen while I am going down the road. This is not a good thing as I live and do business in an area that does not allow you to be on the phone and I am constantly in my car for work... Very frustrating and I seem to be getting nothing in the area of a resolve...

Any help on this would be great.
