iPhone 5 Bluetooth issues with car

My iPhone 5 is having issues with Bluetooth and my car. It pairs with no problem and I can make calls with no problem. If my phone rings and I try to answer it with the car Bluetooth controls the call picks up then immediately goes back to listening to the radio... But the call is still connected and the phone thinks its still connected to "my car". So I need to quickly pick up the handset and switch the source to phone or the other person will hang up. If it helps the car is a 2010 Infiniti. Any ideas? I already tried re-pairing it. I also tried resetting the network settings.

Thanks in advance

This is what I'm seeing as well. I tried BT streaming with Pandora on my 2013 Altima. While stopped at an intersection, it disconnected for about 30 seconds and then reconnected. This happened for me before the 6.1 update, but only 1 other time and I use it frequently.

Another issue that I see unresolved is the ability for the car to receive SMS messages and read them. Sending my self a SMS via Google Voice, the car acknowledges a SMS received, but selecting "Read" from the stearing wheel doesn't do anything.

Hmmm, spoke too soon. My bluetooth streaming has dropped again today. The car stereo automatically reverted to XM radio, then immediately bluetooth got re-established. But the bluetooth streaming never came back on since it was now on XM.

I'm wondering if I should get that Nissan update anyway... or maybe try repairing the phone with the car again.

Hello, I'm new to this but I have had all the issues already discussed in this thread. I have found that if you go to iphone settings - bluetooth - then on your device (car) uncheck "phone favourites" and "phone recents" only leaving sync contacts on and all contacts checked, it works.

I didn't re-name my phone or re-pair my phone with car, just unchecking those 2 options seems to of cured the incoming call problem. I drive a 2011 Nissan Navara Pick-up Truck.

I can still here a distinct "click" 2 seconds into the incoming call but instead of it cutting out, like it used to, the call stays connected.

I don't know if this might help others out there but it worked for me.

My iphone 5 will not cooperate w my Pioneer BT head unit in my car. Constant disconnections, garbled audio etc. I can pair both audio and phone but it frequently loses connection and will only connect at all if I trick my head unit into thinking it is a Nokia phone. (I read that trick in one of these forums) unfortunately it is only a temporary fix as the streaming audio stutters. This is a nightmare and also a safety risk. I have tried renaming the phone, updated to iOS 6.1 and no luck. I even contacted Pioneer to see if there were any fixes on their end. No firmware updates, no solutions. A bloody shame because I really am impressed w the iPhone otherwise. I am a recent Android convert. I never had any connectivity issues with the Droid btw.

I just had the Infiniti update installed yesterday on a 2011 G37 w/ nav and everything now works great. Then again, I installed the iOS 6.1 too, so that may have been the fix. In any event, I had a long discussion about this at the dealer and they've installed the update on many Infiniti vehicles in recent weeks. They're well aware of the problem and how pervasive it is among Infiniti owners.
