iTunes Wi-Fi Sync won't work after iOS6

I upgrades my iPod Touch (4th gen) to iOS6 and since then, Wi-Fi sync with iTunes no longer works. I tried resetting my settings on the iPod, as well as uninstalling and re-installing iTunes, both to no avail. When I check "Sync with this iPod over Wi-Fi" in iTunes, it doesn't show up as enabled in the iPod's General Settings. I update the iPod frequently with the latest podcasts, and my sync cable's in my car because my iPod connects to my car stereo through it. It'd be rediculous to get another sync cable when it should be able to connect and sync with iTunes wirelessly.

Naturally I spoke too soon. Sorry! After enabling wifi syncing for my iPhone 5 in the sumary tab of itunes (while connected via usb) I unplugged the cable and the iphone satyed visible in the devices list as it would when connected via cable. Brilliant! It worked! I was able to copy music just as I would when connected via usb.

Then I went out for a while and came back and tried it again...broken!

It's like I never enabled wireless sync in the first place.

I just did it all again and, again it worked fine, but if I quit itunes and relaunch it it's broken again—iphone will not show up in devices list.

I'll explore this in more detail when I have some time.

thx

Hmmm. So I ran out again and came back and launched iTunes and now my iPhone is listed again in Devices. I've been removing and adding music and it's working well (albeit a bit slower than usb.)

woops: just dropped off again.

I wonder if this is related to the iOS 6 home sharing issue. Apparently some have traced that to how iOS6 handles devices sleeping in regards to the wireless network not being notified of sleep by the device.

Anyway—it's definitely inconsistent for me at this time and seeing as I charge my phone each night by connecting it to my MBP the "benefits" of wireless syncing are minimal even if it's working properly.

I'll have to revisit this when iTunes 11 hits: I suspect it will be fixed then.

Hello everyone!.....I been having the same issue with iTunes wifi-sync since iTunes 10.0. I found a simple solution from another post and it works everytime. All you have to do is turn your wifi network off from your computer/laptop and then turn it back on. Then iTunes will reconize your network again, and your devices should show up in iTunes.

I have been frustrated for months along with many others. WIFI Sync was hit or miss at best; usually didn't work. I just set my IP address on my iPhone to "STATIC" per instructions at:

http://iphone.namitkarlekar.com/2009/05/fixing-your-iphones-ip-on-wifi-network.h tml

Have plugged-in/unplugged iPhone and restarted iTunes several times. So far WIFI Sync seems to work exactly as advertised no matter what order I start iTunes and plug iPhone into power source. If this remains true then I will be forever grateful to Namit Karlekar for such an incredibly easy fix! One so easy, that it is incredible to believe Apple has neither fixed the issue internally, nor shared any such solution with its numerous loyal and annoyed patrons, who have been griping about it for months and months. Shameful, really if I were forced to choose a single word to describe their inaction!

Hope this may be a permanent fix for myself and others. Keeping my mental fingers crossed for all of us. Good Luck!
