iMessage will not send messages, iMessage will not send messages

I am having a similar problem in that I am unable to send an iMessage to a person. I can type it, however, once I press send, I never get the little "delivered" note. I am using iOS 6.1.2. Sometimes, clearing the message will work however, mostly it won't. Even restarting or resetting internet connection won't help. This is only happening to one person that I regularly message and none of the several others that I also frequently message. I have been unable to find a way to get it to work properly.
Just to clarify here....they don't REQUIRE a subject at all. My guess is that switching that reset something else.
Happened to me today using ipad and latest 6.1.3. all of a sudden could not send pictures via imessage. Send text okay and receive text and pictures.
But NOT to my wife's iPad she can send pictures via her same iPad as mine!!!!!
What is going on here...........it's Apple yes?
Messages on my iPhone works fine -- very spotty on my iPad even though both are running iOS 6.1.3.
I turned off the subject field. I don't like it. It still don't work.
On 4/9/2013 my iMessage stopped sending pictures. It would show delivered but my iPad did not show the picture in the mirrored iMessage as it normally does, and the friend did not receive it.
After much searching, one comment worked.
1. Go to: Settings > Messages > Turn off iMessage
2. Hold down the power/wake button, and slide to turn off your iPhone.
3. Let your iPhone shut down, then start it back up.
4. Go to: Settings > Mesages > make sure iMessage is still turned off, if it for somereason turned back on, go back to step 1. If it is still off, turn iMessage back on, wait for it to verify and bring up your phone number as the contact method.
5. Go and attempt to send a picture through iMessage.
For me, after nearly 3 days of testing, this worked!!
Good luck.
Worked for iOS 6.1.2 iPhone 5, jailbroken.
I have just started to experience this problem with my iPad2. I can iMessage everywhere except at work now. The tech department has informed me that NOTHING was changed on the wifi and my iPhone 5 works no problem on exactly the same system!
Why would one device work and not the other? Is it an iCloud problem? A configuration problem?
I hope someone can help as I never had any difficulty before and I do rather use my iPad to iMessage as it is bigger and I have a keyboard and is great for communicating between colleagues for work rather than use email.
Please give me your ideas.
Thank you
I have an Ipod Touch 5th gen that is doing the same thing at work as malalex02. I have done nothing new for updates, everything was working great and it just stopped working but only at work. At home its great. IT says they changed nothing. My Imessage does not work but facetime does.
If I sign out of Imesage and then back in, once I enter my username and password, I get an error saying "could not sign in. Check your network connectiona nd try again". My connection is fine cause facetime works and so does safari and email.
I have tried all the rebooting and fixes on various support pages and nothing helps. I am now going to do a factory reset.
I am not going to do a factory reset because I am not sure that will really help and everything works well everywhere else so it must be a configuration problem.
If anyone else has an idea what this is, please inform me.
Thank you
Just got an iPhone 4 a few days ago. Received a message from a friend. Typed a reply. Failed to send. Went into settings, turned off the subject field, returned to messages, pasted the body of the failed message into a new message, and it sent straight away.
Soon received a reply back. Typed a reply to that. Failed to send. Gave up after several attempts.
Progress sending in all events proceeded normally until nearly the end, seemingly falling at the last hurdle… as if the message were corrupted, packets were being dropped, or the connection 'lost'.
Forgot to check the system log, but that would be the next step (using System Status, AppSwitch, or the like).
I was having this problem on my iPad mini when trying to send messages using my wireless home network. I fixed it by just restarting my router. It had a long uptime (we are talking months here).
excellent suggestion. it helped! thanks! 🙂
Try changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8
hi this happend to me and i turned my wi-fi of then on then connect back to the internet and it should work
Hey everyone - the issue may be that you're typing in the "Subject" field - not in the "Message" field. If you have "Show Subject Field" turned on in your Settings - a split box opens when you are responding to or composing a message. If you only type in the "Subject" field you will not be able to Send as you have not created a message (only a subject). You must type in the lower half of the split box to create the send enabled message. Would advise turning off the "Show Subject Field" to make things easier/simpler.
