Has anyone else has an issue with the music player starting? After turning off my morning alarm the podcast player fired up. Last night I had a similar issue after ending a phone call the pod cast started also. In both cases the pod cast had not been in use before the action that triggered it. iPhone 4 AT&T iOS 6

I have a similar problem. If the last audio I was using on my iPhone was from the Podcasts app, and I make or receive a phone call later, as soon as I end the call, the Podcasts app starts playing by itself. It doesn't seem to matter how long it's been between the time I stopped playing the podcast, and the time I get the call. As long as the Podcasts app was the last thing playing, this will happen. I am usually listening using Bluetooth audio, if that makes any difference.

When I hang up the podcast starts playing. Usually really loudly and usually at work.
With all the complaints I have read about this I can't believe they don't have a fix for this already.
This never happened when it was podcasts in the music app before IOS6.
My wife is a teacher and leaves her phone in her bag locked in a cabinet in silent mode (vibrate).
If someone calls, once the call goes to voicemail, the podcast she was last listening too starts up again.
For now I am going to recommend uninstalling the Podcast app and using something like Pocketcast.

At this point we should probably just blame Scott Forstall and feel better about it.
I have an iPhone 5 and this is happening to me also. But it is happening in playing my audibooks, which is what I usually listen to. It happens almost every time. It is unpredictable and very frustrating-- as I keep losing my place and with the blackout in New York, losing precious battery life.
This happens to me as well, and is still happening with 6.0.1. I usually listen in the car with a cable plugged between the headphone jack and the radio line in. Normally when I leave the car I simply unplug the headphone jack which stops playback. The next phone event that occurs which would normally restart playback after it is done (phone call, alarm etc) restarts the podcast app.
If I explicitly stop playback by tapping stop in the app or on the multitask bar, it wont restart playback.
The other thing that I find immensly annoying with the podcast app is that it sometimes forgets where I was. I'll grab my phone, put in my ear buds and press play on the remote and it starts playing something from my music library, not the last thing I was listening to. This means that I have to launch the podcast app, try to remember what podcast episode I was listening to, and where I was in that episode. I have to note what and where I was when I stop playback so I can remember.
I totally agree. I hate the fact that it looses my place in the podcast and then blasts a song instead.
Does anyone from Apple actually read these forums. I can't believe they haven't fixed this bug yet.
Playing the podcasts in the Music app was much better. I never used to have any problem.
I still sync almost all my podcasts on the computer and only one or two through the app. It takes so long to start playing while it's trying to sync with the cloud podcasts even though I'm playing one that's already on my phone.
Also when I open a podcast (I only download 3 at a time) it looks like they are played but when I pull down the update they disappear and the new ones appear. Nothing like it used to be in the music app.
Not impressed at all. Things should be getting better not worse.
(Also I've been waiting over a month now for my iPhone 5 to come.)

Yes, It's happening to me too. In addition to that when the phone syncs with my car's Bluetooth the podcast app starts playing over the car speakers by itself. I have to pause it all the time, If I get a call the podcast starts playing by itself immediately after I hand up the phone call even if the podcast was not previously playing. Very annoying.
