No option for display rotation in extended monitor from my Macbook Pro (OS : Lion 10.7.5) after update from 10.7.4

I did "right click" on the second display to "show view options". If you open "system preferences" and "displays" the options for the second display will come up on that screen. There's an option there for rotation. I'm running 10.8.3 so I don't know if this will be a fix for 10.7.5. My second display is a Dell U2412M.

This solved my issue too. Running Lion 10.7.5 and Rotation was not being displayed on the Preferences screen for my external Dell P1911 monitor (aka Dell P1909W). After renaming the file in question and restarting, Rotation is now working. Thank you!

Perfect!! Thank you so much... your trick still worked on Yosemite 10.10.3, April 30 2015. Was able to rotate my 2nd monitor (Dell u2713hm w/ thunderbolt cable). PHEW!!!
