Iphone 5 signal loss

Anyone else having a problem where when you lose signal for a lengthy period time such as on the train the phone doesnt find signal again when you are clearly in a area that would have signal. Only way around this for it to stop saying "No service" is to reboot the phone.

It reboots and has signal again

Anyone else getting this problem?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

My first post on here.. im Uk just transferred over to Orange on iphone 5 32gb white. Having the same issues as you guys works fine around home etc but at work the signal drops out all the time and the no signal stays on the phone.

Just tried the reset network settings as we speak, so will report back on that although initial conclusion is that is says im on EE (everything everywhere) 3G with one bar of strength.

There is definately a software issue my phone works fine elsewhere and is a great phone if they sort this bug out.

Has anyone tried to call Apple Support about this? I wonder whether its worth doing just so that they're aware of it. It's happening to me several times a day as I work in a rural area, I keep losing signal - doesn't regain service until I toggle airline mode. Always get service back after toggling so its not cos my signal is always cruddy!

I've had it fixed :) :) BUT it wasn't ur fix Arthur. Sorry to say for all u people still unresolved. A PROBABLE fix for all u ORANGE users....my phone was showing orange-tmobile in the too left corner. I informed orange of this as I know I apparently should see EE in the top corner instead. They sent me new settings for this and it's worked. HOWEVER my signal still isn't as good as other orange users on other phones e.g. Samsung galaxy. I'm at my mates house and he is also in orange but has the Samsung galaxy S3 and his signal/Internet connection whiles the floor with mine.

Oh I'm 100% in agreement there buddy.

The hardware is the dogs-bollox. But somehow the software or more spersific the Radio/modem software

Is buggy as ****.

It's as twitchy as a long-tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs,

I went from an ip4 to this ip5 (skipped over the 4s) and with my ip4 it was like 'call or no call' simple

With this ip5 1 in 5 calls are choppy, cutting in and out. And audio qualerty sounds worse than the ip4.

I know it's not the hardware as I still use Viber for VoIP calls and they sound crystal.

But strangely, the more I'm using the phone it's like it's getting better, or I'm just getting used to it? Lol

I'll keep hold of it, let's see what a few updates do to it.. C'mon apple!!!!

Hi Arthur, tried the fix yesterday, although the signal at work is rubbish and my signal still drops out, i have to admit so far the signal recovers from a no signal situtation better than before. It still isnt perfect but at least i can use the thing now.

I suspect this is an iOS6 issue or iphone 5 issue to software, i turned my wifi off at home yesterday and with 3g coverage at home the phone operates as quick as wifi and is simply great. At work is a different story though, but better thanks.

By the way im on Orange EE

I m having the same problem. iPhone 5 on orange, lose the signal between earls court and victoria underground stations and then sticks on no service till I either ring someone or turn airplane mode on and off. If it goes to no service briefly it can usually find its way back but when its for 5 mins plus like on that section of the tube it gets stuck.

I ve reset network settings multiple times, put the sim in and out too as these were fixes I found on google by people who had similar problems with older models in the past. Usually improves the following day but that is probably as I'm checking the phone constantly to monitor it which keeps it active. As soon as I get complacent I notice its done it again.

The phone is fine the whole rest of the day and at the weekend, just gets stuck at the same time to and from work. My cousin has the same problem on the tube and he's on vodafone so I m pretty sure its a software issue.

Nope mines fixed as I previously posted.....dam u apple!!!! I phoned apple last night who are sending me a replacement handset. I suggest EVERYONE with this problem does this, as then it will cost them millions and they will then get the message and will be forced to resolve the issue! It's free to return just give them a call ASAP an explain the issue.

I live in Connecticut on at&t. Been having same problems when I go from No Service to a service area it will not connect. I have to toggle airplane mode on and off to get service back. Most commonly occurs at work but it has happened at home with the Iphone 5. Never had a problem with service on the 4. I have to call Apple support probably on Tuesday and will ask about this.

nope still the same problem its a joke all my friends have the dame problem on there iphone 5

ways to get it to relock on are

1. power off phone then back on again
2. turn airplane mode on then off
3. make a call to someone

the above 3 options forces the iphone 5 to relock onto the signal.

I hope this is a software bug as if its a hardware fault this is going to coast apple as everyone i know with a iphone 5 has this problem more so on three becasue they have no other service to fall back on after 3g as with otheres it would drop down to edge and still have a locked on signal. Its only when you go into an area where there is no signal and then you walk into a place with one that the phone just will not lock backonto it.

apple should try and fix this 1 bug and release it now as this is a major problem.

anyone know if apple know about this problem and are dealing with it is there going to be a fix soon as this is making this phone unusable

oh tried the network reset option and it did not work

Same problem for me too. After losing signal, it does not come back until I reboot. I'm on t mobile (ee) in the UK.

I've also noticed the even in airplane mode the battery drains fast. Yesterday my battery lost about 7% in an hour when in airplane mode. My old 3GS hardly used any juice in airplane mode.

I seem to have this same problem where if I'm in a No Service area for a length of time, the phone won't reconnect, and it's only when I notice I haven't had any texts for a while that I notice. What throws another spanner in the works is that my iPhone 5 on 3 seems to drop signal for no apparent reason. I can have it out on the desk with 3 or 4 bars 3G, put it in my pocket, get it out 10 minutes later and it says 'No Service'. We have 2 other iPhone 5s in our house on 3 and neither have the same fluctuating signal. Back to Apple for me.

I`m the same, i`ve only had my Iphone 5 a few days having upgraded on Orange from the Iphone 4, Signal is all over the place, one minute it has 4 bars then blink and it says no service.

The iphone 4 was the best i`ve ever had so decided i would upgrade but i can`t put up with this for the next 2 years until my contract is up!!!

Tried ressetting the carrier settings but still the same issues, booked Genius appointment but not happy.
