Getting redirected to 'Success' Page after wifi connection?

Hey everyone I know there's a ton of threads out there discussing wifi issues, but I haven't seen much people experiencing or describing this scenario:

When using a captive page (whether at work, university, mall, etc.) before enabling the wifi connection, before, a Log In page would automatically pop up when I went to Settings, open an app, or a browser. And once I accept, the screen goes away.

Now it seems, this happens:

1.) I have to go to Settings -> Wifi to force the Log In page to come up (otherwise the phone just uses 4g and doesn't try to re-connect me)

2.) Once I hit 'Accept' or I log in it redirects me to: http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html

3.) The 'Success!' page stays on, and I have to close it manually.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Is this a hardware/software issue? I know that the success page was missing last week, which was the first wave of wifi issues, but from waht I understand whenever a wifi connection is trying to be established, that page gets pinged which causes whether or not the captive page comes up. But what I don't understand is why connecting with a 'normal'/wifi-at-home connection doesn't redirect me to that page.

Right Ocean20, I noted that it was the source of the first wave of wifi issues, which was resolved. But there doesn't seem to be an answer yet as to why users going through a captive page are getting redirected to that page. I succesfully connect to the wifi network regardless of this page - which I forgot to mention in my original post, and I'm assuming so is dpecheux

I have a problem with the fact that Apple tries to load this page.

On our internal corporate Intranet, any page that is not accessable becomes a redirect. Because of this, NONE of our iDevices are now able to connect to our internal network, they connect, they try to load this page, we see the redirected information page and then the device itself disconnects from the WiFi access where it used to stay connected.

This can't be working as intended and I need a fix or we have a room full of paperweights.

Actually contacted Apple support. They were pretty good about escalating it up a tier or so, BUT it seems there is (and may not be) no fix. They pretty much said that that HAD to be that way. Thay also mentioned it having to do with Passbook (which I could care less was not available anyway). Afraid to update the rest of our devices... Don't want any more Apple branded paperweights either. Grr.
