Purple Haze on iPhone 5 Photos

How many of y'all are experiencing a purple haze on your iPhone 5 photos? I initially thought this was because I have a purple TPU case on the phone, but after removing it the haze was still there.

Anybody else?

and if you knew who you were chatting with you would lose the attitude.

You all have fun here I'm going to let my people handle the matter from this point forward.

Stay tuned elitest from main...

Elitist is spelled elitist, Maine is spelled Maine but aside from your inablility consult a dictionary (clearly relying on spell checker which does not work here), and based on the two comments preceding the one with the bad spelling.....

Whose the elitist here? We should be shaking in our boots for speaking to you this way? You will have "your people" handle this going foward? OMG.....get a grip, dude!

This is what I have been wondering about ever since it was mentioned that if you use your hand to block out the light, I immediately though "well wouldn't a case that sets the lens back do the same thing?" I have mentioned my theory in some of the posts, but I've had people tell me that it wouldn't make a difference....of course I don't know if they were speaking from experience or just trying to prove some superior knowledge.

The camera functionality is very important to me, I waited a long time for the iP5 and plan on using it a lot for day to day photos. My observations:

1. The angle of the sun and time of day may affect the picture and whether you get the dreaded purple haze. I definitely had the haze show up in outside photos taken this morning and have not been able to replicate it this afternoon both with sunlight coming from the edge of the photo and shooting directly into the sun. I can get a bit of purple haze inside from indirect light from the window but its not excessive.

2. More importantly, when I had the purple haze in photos this morning, I replicated those shots shielding the lens a bit with my hand (granted, this is somewhat cumbersome to do). Every time I did, the purple haze was eliminated. Both in regular and panoramic shots. The difference was impressive, not just acceptable.

At the same time, I tested our iP4's camera on the same shots taken with the iP5. While the purple haze was never a problem in the iP4 photos, white sun-glare was obvious and much more pronounced. Shooting directly into the afternoon sun resulted in quite a bit of glare with the iP4 and far less glare from the iP5. In my opinion, the overall quality of the photos from the iP5 is significantly better than the iP4.

That said, when I need a professional photo, I'll grab my canon. Otherwise, I can deal with the level of camera in my iP5.

No, you didn't. The first part definitely did not support Flaregate or Mapsgate (loved the line by the supposed Wired correspondent, "If you aim it directly into the sun you get a purple tint". Nailed that one.

Had nothing to say about "slave" labor, you read that into it. And it certainly wasn't just about Apple, liked the last bit about "Is diabetes a product?" And definitely was a poke at every manufacturer, not just Apple.

I saw it more as a satire on people who blow things out of proportion. It is no wonder you didn't see that.

Thought you were gone?
