How am I using so much data with iPhone 5?

Got the iPhone 5 Friday evening and by Tuesday afternoon I went over 5 gb of data usage. That's 5gb in 4 days. How is this possible?

you should re-enable "Documents & Data" in the cloud and "iCloud Backup". why? changes are your documents/data dont arent very large and dont use much, but even if they are, you can still use them but set "Use Cellular Data" to off. and iCloud backups *only* happen when youre connected to wifi and a power source, never via a cellular connection.

dunno why youre using so much data, but it's definitely not normal. go into Settings > Cellular and study the "CELLULAR DATA USAGE" as well as "USE CELLULAR DATA FOR:" listings to get an idea of how much data youre using and from where.

When I look in General->Settings I do not see a Cell Data.

I previsoudly had an iPhone 4 and then got a 5 last July. I never had trouble with my 2 Gb plan with ATT until last month. I figured it was because I streamed some olympic hockey games that month. I still made it without going over (reaching 95% on the last day of the billing cycle). My 5 was stolen on Sunday (March 2) so I got a 5s on Monday. Now today I got notices that I am 65% into my 2 Gb usage and I am only 8 days into the billing cycle.

How can I tell what is using up my data usage? I turned of photo streaming and data/documents on icloud and set it to only backup when plugged into my computer/itunes. Could that have been the problem? I think I had that turned off on my previous phones but then paid for it when my phone was stolen. I don't want to risk losing my photos, etc, but I can't go through 2 Gb in one week!

I got my mom an upgrade to iphone 5 and she is now using data 20x faster than she ever has before.

I'm still in the process of working things out but I think I finally traced it down to the LTE. Apparantly the blazing speed of LTE allowed her to use Netflix when she wasn't on wifi and she had no idea she was using cellular data.

In about 10 days she used 800 mb of data with Netflix and 160 mb with her safari browser.

I had switched on 'wifi only' on netflix but she got a pop up message and just clicked away which disabled that option. I have it back on and I shut off Netflix and Safari under Settings>Cellular

I have to wait 2 days before I get more data to use so until then I've actually shut off all of our cellular on all three phones so we don't go over the limit but I'm confident I've resolved the problem. I'll know more in a few days.

tldr; The LTE works so well she didn't even realize she was off wifi

Im currently having the same issue with my new phone5s. I got it 3 months ago. Previously on my Iphone4 I would barely if ever reach 1gb of data a month. Now im breaking that 1gb in 6 days. Whats wierder is that in my service area I dont even have LTE. Im still running 3G network. So its not like my speeds have increased allowing me to download more. Im also always connected to wifi while at work and home. I noticed on my data bill that there is a couple hours were 100mb of data is downloaded. From what, who the **** knows. Its very frusteration. Ive told my provider that I have completely turned my Celluar data off for the month and if there is anymore charges they can have the phone back
