Apple TV update 5.1 broken?

After 5.1 messed up my ATV3 I downgraded to 5.02. Now everything is working like it should. I would like to eventually upgrade to 5.1 but I have no way of knowing when they will have fixed it.

Took my ATV into the Apple store yesterday and they replaced it no questions asked. I couldnt get an explination of why or what happened. I dont know if they know what happened. Other forums on this subject say the same thing. They will just replace it with a new one. I havnt been able to hook it up yet so cant tell you if it works. The Apple rep said If I choose too...hint hint I didnt have to upgrade the unti to the newest release. Yea Ill be waiting until I hear their is a fix and a better version.

since 5.1 upgrade using atv ver.2 UNABLE to use home wifi to connect to any apps on atv.

plug in lan all works ok.

home wi-fi works fine on my macbook air & ipad accessing itunes etc.

if i ask an APPLE authorised repair centre to llok at my ATV will they fix the problem ie roll back f/ware ?

I have ths $100 Apple TV "Hockey Puck paperweight" also. Let ATV update. After update ATV can't find my wireless, if I plug in the ethernet screen goes black and led starts blinking. If powered up with ethernet connected, gets suck in loop of choose language. Make choice and it resets back to Choose language.

I tried downloading and installing the previous version - AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw., but iTunes came up with an error message telling me "This device isn't eligible for the requested build".

Tried all the tricks to no avail. Come on Apple FIX THIS!!!! There are alot of us with the same problem here!!!

After the update my Apple TV could not find my wifi. It would only find my wifi if is was in the same room as my wifi device. I got a replacement for my Apple TV because it was still under warranty. My new Apple TV is working fine because I am not going to update it until apple fixes this the September update.

Same here, Have tried all the usual 'fixes' powered on cable modem, wifi router, Mac, Itunes, Apple TV all in sequence still no joy.

I can 'Airplay' content from Iphone / Ipad & Mac, but nothing via home sharing.

Surely this isn't a feature of 5.1 if it is Apple please let me downgrade...

Same problem Here! This isnt the only forum on this either! There are to my knowledge two others. with 8-10 pages of complaints! Come on Apple do something! They wont admit to this or they would have to compensate all of us for the amount of time and energy we have lost. This has been going on, for me, since the new iphone came out and the newest OS relesase update. I need to change my screen name to ATVisaRock! Apple at least be brave enough to admit there is a problem instead of frustrationg your customers.

Okay, Home Sharing still doesn't work.

I managed to downgrade to AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw - which it wouldn't previously let me do.

However, Home Sharing still doesn't work. So I'm restoring 5.1 using my iMac to see what happens.

Seriously, it shouldn't be this hard.

I have an Apple TV 3 and I have tried updating it to 5.1 on several occasions. I've updated it through wifi, Ethernet, and through iTunes. I still keep getting the same problems. I can stream anything from my MacBook Pro and Netflix won't load movies. I don't know what else to do. I guess I'll just have to use the previous version because the 5.1 update has been doing nothing but causing problems.

Then let Apple know. Give them feedback here, and perhaps they'll do something about it. I'm guessing this is a pretty widespread problem.

I'm having th same problem. It worked last night until after I updated to 5.1.... now nothing will stream. Also, when I go into my computer/home share.... not all of the same options appear. I only see music, movies, and television. This may be by design, but it's hard for me to say right now considering that nothing seems to be working properly. I also tried to do air play straight from my iMac and that doesn't work either.

I tried resetting through my Mac, but I still can't use home sharing. It just asks me to turn home sharing on when it's already on.
