I have the very same problem.

My provider is Orange and I possess an Iphone 4 upgraded to iOS 6.0.1

When I share my connection through wifi, it starts working in the beginning then the connectivity goes "limited" and it stops working. For it to work again I have to reboot my iPhone.
The onset of the problem is very sporadic, sometimes it comes 5 mins after sometimes it can work for hours.

When I share my connection through the wire, it starts working as well then the connectivity also goes "limited" and it stops working. For it to work again I have to go to "Network settings" then Disable the local connection and then Enable it again.

This is pretty annoying when it happens a dozens of time over 4-5 hours.

NOTE :

- This NEVER EVER happened when it was working on iOS 5

- This happens WHICHEVER the provider is

- This happens whether the connection is USB or Wifi

Therefore the only conclusion is that iOS 6 is the culprit and this needs to be fixed.

I am waiting for a fix because this cannot go on, I cannot properly work with that.

While I was writing this message, the connection dropped again.

I tried resetting network settings but it failed to work.

Any guess?

Hi... I have experienced similar problems with connectiviy via my iphone. However, my biggest problem continues to be tethering my ipad with my iphone. Both devices seem to work well with wifi (alone). What happens is that when I tether my ipad with my iphone 4s, the iphone 4s shows a connection, but my ipad does not fully complete the pairing. In order to fix this, I have to reboot my iphone. After the reboot, my ipad cannot see the connection, so I have to manually enter the name of the connection (Other), and after two tries the ipad finally connects. Throughout the day, the connection is fine... i..e can disconnect/reconnect. However, this problem returns when I get home and my ipad/iphone automatically connects to my home network. Again I have cleared my network connections for both devices etc.

As much as its just a phone and not to long ago it was hanging on a cord. It's not just a phone it has become more then just a phone and that's what apple wants. When a cell phone costs over 600$ you expect it to work like its suppose to and nothing less. You get what you pay for. And I don't feel like I'm getting what I payed for. If I wanted a phone with problems I would buy another blackberry but I chose to go with something more secure and reliable. I understand that there are glitches but a company like apple needs to on top of that, and resolve it and not suggest clients to restart or reboot or reset their phone. Then there is no difference between apple and blackberry.

Same here having problems with iOS 6 and tethering with iphone to ipad. Also issues with Apple TV with no sound on AirPlay. Somedays it works some don't.

Sorry don't mean to attack you, but when I spend this much money on apple products I expect results. I m up to 5 apple products and you get to see the issues they have when your really use them to their capacity. And you spend more time on the web tring to figure out the problem. Over all they are great machines.

I agree... In order for me to tether, I have to shut my phone down and then go to my iPad and pick "other" and type my IPhone network's name to connect, its a pain, and low-rent... I have to do this each time I connect either my phone or iPad to another wifi network. Basically iOS 6 changes some internals. The bottom line is iOS 6 is not up to par with apples reputation. Consider the maps fiasco... Plus the changes made to iTunes Match (so you can't figure out what songs are on your phone and what songs will use up your wireless wireless charges (I hear they will change this back in a future release) ... Anyway I generally love apple products.. I have a Mac, iPad and iPhone... I'm just calling it how I see it... I hope apple hears that some people's devices work worse under IOS 6 and they fix it....

I ran an update last week and just attempted to tether my iPhone 5 running iOS6 and my MacBook Pro and iPad - nothing. It drove me nuts trying to figure it out but I haven't had time to really troubleshoot it until now.

Restarting iphone didn't work. Switching off/on WiFi and Bluetooth didn't work.

Try this SOLUTION (works for iPad as well after update):

It seems in the update, my Personal Hotspot was shut off.

Settings>General>Cellular>Personal Hotspot>ON

Hope this helps!

hey guys if you have an iphone 4/4S and really want personal hotspot to work flawlessly you should do like me, just downgrade your iphone with redsnow to 5.1.1., it's very easy you just download the IPSW file on tinyumbrella and then use redsnow to install ios.

I did that and now I can have a personal hotspot that works correctly without any interruption.

Really I don't understand why apple doesn't solve this problem maybe it doesn't occur on iphone 5 so they don't care about older models users, this is a ridiculous customer service in any way.

they did the same with Plans which is an utter piece of crap!

If you have an Iphone 4 overall you should just go back to 5.1.1, it's much much faster!

Nope this is Apples fault. The reason I can say that is because software fixed it so that means the bug is in the software not the hardware, thus, the carrier that speaks to the hardware.

If you replace a hose on the car is the motor still broken or was it the hose. By Jailbraking the device you replaced the broken code with different code and got it to work. Obviously, the different code is better.

Apple PLEASE FIX!!
