AirPlay issues in iOS6.0

I was happy user of apple tv's airplay feature until I downloaded iOS6.0 in my iPhone 4S. Any time I want to play music in my TV or Home theater system I always had Airplay icon (the little arrow mark beside the music player's volum bar) available in my iPhone. Now ever since I downloaded iOS6.0, I don't get Airplay icon all the time, I can see apple tv is ON because I can see it in my TV, but still iphone doesn't recognise the apple TV. "Remote" application works as remote though, but that too doesn't show my iphone's music library anymore. To make Airplay work, the only work around sometimes worked is I turn off the wifi in my iPhone and switch it back, and sometime I have to turn off the Airplay feature in AppleTV and switch it back on. which I never used have to do before. I have two iPhone 4S and a Mac with mountain Lion usually on in my network. I would like to know Is any one else facing the same issue? Is this something came with iO6.0 or it could be my network issue?

Any comments from apple?

On my iphone 5, ipad 3, gf and friends iphone 5's, the airplay mirriroing icon disappeared from all of them. Was working fine, we tried using it yesterday and now it's gone. *** Apple. I'm one of your biggest fans and advocates and we love that feature.

We've tried resetting the Verizon Fios router, the Time Capsule, Apple TV and all the devices, nothing has worked.

Please respond if anyone comes up with a solution to this.

It's orange when I try to contact my ATV or Yamaha etc. with two or more devices at the same time. Somebody from the family did use their iPhone, iPad and didn't disconnect. When disconnecting the othe devices, mine turns blue again and no problems... Somtimes Airplay jumps to my guest network and disappeart totaly. Fixing the Wifi and it's back again.

It must be a conflict, when it turns orange.... 😕

I just found this fix from 2010 when someone upgraded their software and ended up loosing Airplay....sounded crazy but totally worked! My airplay icon is back, and working!!

On your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, navigate to Settings > General > International > Language and change to a different language (e.g. if you are using English, switch to French). The device will go through a language switch/reset process, and your AirPlay icon should be restored.

Next navigate back to Settings > General > International > Language (translated into the new language, of course) and switch back to your original language.

I've just started getting this Orange AirPlay icon problem. I've got a PC running iTunes 11.1, a Netgear router, and powerline etherenet to a Denon AVR-3313CI. I use my iPad (with IOS 7.0) and the Remote app to control it. Everything worked mostly fine before I updated to iTunes 11.1 and before I updated to IOS 7. Now, I can start playing songs, but at some point, the AirPlay icon (on my PC) switches from blue to orange, and playback on my receiver stops. When I look at the PC, it's as if someone has pressed the pause button. Sometimes I can get it to play again by clicking the play button again. Sometimes not. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Crossbeaux,

Did you resolve your issue? What you have described is exactly the same as what I am experiencing. I have a Netgear router and use Airplay to play through either my ATV or Marantz receiver. Airplay icon will turn orange after a couple of minutes and music starts to cut out or stops altogether. Doesn't seem to matter if I play on one or multiple devices. Not sure if it is a router problem, wi-fi problem or Airplay issue! I have the latest firmware on my router and itunes is running the latest version. Both the ATV and Marantz receiver are up to date in terms of system upgrades.

Wayned,

My problem turned out to be my powerline ethernet. I tested my system by temporarily replacing the powerline ethernet connectors with a long wire that I ran through my house. When I did that, everything worked perfectly. Then I contacted the powerline ethernet manufacturer. They said to unplug and replug the units. When I did that, everything was fine. Now, when I get dropouts and the music stops, I unplug both powerline units, wait a minute, and replug. Afterwards, everything works fine. This happens every few weeks. Not the ideal situation, but not the end of the world.
