Black screen upon wake from sleep with 10.8.2

Ever since upgrading to 10.8.2, my 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2008) will regularly have a problem waking from sleep. This initially happened once every couple of days, and now is happening multiple times a day.

The symptoms are as follows: after waking from sleep, the laptop screen remains black. The laptop is non-responsive to any of the keys (including function keys), or the mouse. The computer is actually running at this point (I can remote login via ssh), just not interacting or displaying anything. I've waiting several minutes with no change. Eventually, I either press and hold the power button, or login remotely and shut it down.

I've also noticed the last several times this has happened that the computer had already come out of sleep by itself before I opened it.

This morning, it got worse. Not only was the computer already running, but it was running hot with the fan on high.

This problem was also reported in another thread, but since that thread is now marked "solved" I started a new one. Here is the other thread: Problem with waking from sleep with 10.8.2.
