Yahoo mail not pushing with iOS 6?

Is anyone else having this problem? Since updating to iOS 6, my Yahoo mail is not properly pushing to my iPhone. It works sporadically at best. It appears to work sometimes for an hout or two and then stops for no apparent reason. When I open the Mail app,it will do a manual download of emails for the past several hours worth of email (since push last stopped working). During this time, my other email account properly pushed through mail, so connectivity is not an issue. I've tried deleting and re-entering the account, resetting network settings and even resetting device to factory settings. None of these worked. Has anyone else solved this?

It seems that the communication interface between outside email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, etc) and iOS is tempermental. It does not help that Yahoo does have a straight story:

I have not solved mine yet having tried various "fixes". If I sort it out I will update the post.

I had a similiar problem after downloading iOS 6. My email was not pushing through and my phone kept asking me for the password. I would enter it and would receive message that there was a server problem. I had to go into my yahoo account profile and re-set my password. Once I reset my yahoo password... I deleted and then re-added the yahoo account on my iphone with my new password. All is working fine for now. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

From Friday 21Dec both ipad and iPhone yahoo mail is failing to receive. Both cn send emails.


I have deleted ipad account and reinstated. Nothing. I have addied imap as discussed in forums. Nothing. Just fails to update inbox when I know I have email there.


I setup another account and its works fine, but my 20 year email address has failed.


I downloaded d yahoo app as temp measure until its fixed.


Any suggestions.

Mine stopped working arount the same time on both my iPad and iPhone. For a while doing things like deleting and re-adding worked, but now push is broken on both. I believe something got hosed on Yahoo's end for some people. Supposedly Yahoo is "working on it", but I really doubt that.

Im still having the same problem with my iPad and my Iphone 4s. An update from iOS 5 to iOs 6 has been done on both units. The Y!Mail account was already on the iPad and newly setup on the iPhone after the update. On the iPad the push is not working and my last email was from the 16.10.2012 even though I know that I had recieved E-mails after this date and had read these too. The Y!Mail account wont even setup on the iPhone with the error that the server is not reachable. If I save the settings it keeps asking for the password continuely. I have set the network settings back on both units, changed the password, logged on per Safari and re-setup the account multiple times (on the iPad it will delete but is instantly there again on refresh if I am online, could it be an iCloud problem too?) without any change. Before doing this I tried the Y!Mail MailApp which works on both units and setting up Yahoo with out the standard Yahoo settings (manuelly setting the data to imap.mail.yahoo.com instead of apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com) which also worked on both units. The web portal was no problem on both. But I still can not use the Standard Yahoo setup on both units, what I have not done yet is reinstalled both units from a backup, which I wont do due to there being software on them from my company which I dont know if it will also be restored, due to it not being installed from my Apple account.

Trust me....it's not Yahoo's fault.


Our personal inbox - in some ways - receives infected files via image or file attachments which seem to affect iOS, Androids, ISP's, even our carriers (believe it or not!)


An I.T. Staff from work suggested the only remedy is this:


-Delete your personal yahoo account from iPad/iPhone.

-From your PC or Safari, login to your Yahoo account and try deleting some unread 'subscription' emails, empty your spam mailbox, empty trash as well. Or delete any email with a dodgy attachments.

-Then logged off from your yahoo account on ALL devices - PC's, iOS's Safari or Android devices.

-Turn off iPad or iPhone.

-Switch it back on.

-Wait from 30mins to a couple of hours - before reinstalling your yahoo account in the iOS general settings. And be patient!

-Reinstall yahoo email into your iOS device as usual.


Now, there's a 'better' chance this will work. Otherwise, just try it again.
