Yahoo mail not pushing with iOS 6?

Is anyone else having this problem? Since updating to iOS 6, my Yahoo mail is not properly pushing to my iPhone. It works sporadically at best. It appears to work sometimes for an hout or two and then stops for no apparent reason. When I open the Mail app,it will do a manual download of emails for the past several hours worth of email (since push last stopped working). During this time, my other email account properly pushed through mail, so connectivity is not an issue. I've tried deleting and re-entering the account, resetting network settings and even resetting device to factory settings. None of these worked. Has anyone else solved this?

Everything was working great until yesterday when all the sudden I stopped getting push mail on my iPhone. It still worked on my iPad, but not my iPhone. This happens every few months for some reason and lasts anywhere from a day to a few weeks. It doesn't just affect one Yahoo account, it affects all Yahoo accounts I add to my iPhone. Push doesn't work for any of them, so it's actually a problem with Yahoo pushing any mail to that iPhone.

My work around when I have this problem is to use the Yahoo Mail app. It *****, but it's better then never getting notifications. I just open the Mail app when I get a notification from the Yahoo Mail app.

I contacted Yahoo, who responded with the usual knowledge base links. Finally I got a response saying the "known issue has been resolved", but it wasn't resolved. I'm still having the problem.

I don't know why this keeps happening every few months. It happened in March, it happened in January, it happened in November of last year.

Does anybody use the Yahoo calendar? My Yahoo email acct is working fine on my iPhone 4, but calendar updates made from the computer are not pushing out to the iPhone calendar. This was sporadic but now seems to be completely broken. I deleted my Yahoo acct from the iPhone then reinstalled and did see a single refresh...but I can't uninstall and reinstall every day. If this is not going to work, can anybody suggest a solid calendar that can be shared across different devices that actually will update?? Thanks, Rick

Hi...

I only decided to write to you because I was JUST as frustrated but I figured it out...Ready? Here goes:

So first off..I have iOS 6.1.3 and I have an iPhone 4

1) Go to "Settings" then,

2) "Notifications"......Scroll all the way down until you get to "In Notification Center". YahooMail either be here, or (as in my case) in the "Not in Notification Center" Wherever it is located, go ahead and click on YahooMail.

3) Once inside YahooMail, verify that you have the "Notification Center" option turned ON.

4) Select an "Alert Style"..(I chose the "Alerts" option)

5) Turn on the "badge App Icon" and "Sounds" option if you so desire!

That took care of my issue!!! Good Luck..Let me know if that worked for you! 🙂

That's for Yahoo's Yahoo Mail iOS app. I use that when Yahoo stops pushing to the preinstalled Mail app, like it is again today. Push Mail with the built-in Mail app is different.

If Yahoo ever fixed their own app to remove old read messages from the Notification center, maybe I'd use it, but I much prefer Apple's Mail app because of it's VIP list and better syncing. The only reason I ever use the Yahoo Mail app is because Yahoo ***** and stops pushing to my iPhone, yet still pushes to my iPad. I'm hoping when I get a new phone, that problem will go away for good.

Ok, I had this problem in September and after mulling around in Yahoo mail I finally found a solution that worked for me.

Go to Yahoo, sign into your mail account. Click on the "Cog" wheel in the upper left side, of the options that drop down click "Account Options".

For whatever reason sign in again to your Yahoo mail account.

Now under the "Sign in and Security" header click the link for "set up your second sign-in verification"

Under the "App Passwords" header click the link for "Generate App Password"

Type the name of the program "My iPhone mail"

At this point you may have to confirm your identity through an sms (txt) message or an email. Txt worked better for me.

You will be granted a one time use password to enter into the iOS mailbox setup for a Yahoo mail account.

This is the only way I've gotten mine to work.

Hope this helps.

Yahoo has never allowed me to enable second sign-in since they never text me the code needed to enable it. I have no idea why, but they don't. They'll text me instant messenger junk, but not the code. Even if it worked, Yahoo's second sign-in isn't as good as other compamy's because they force you to use SMS which I don't pay for. Other companies let you use an app.

Back on topic, not to jinx myself, but I haven't had any issues since getting my 5S besides temporarily outages that last no more than 12 hours or so. I haven't had the issue where it stops working on my phone for weeks at a time like I used to.
