all music disappeared from iphone

Suddenly, all my music is gone from my iphone 4s. Wow thats a drag.

I had all my music added manually.

Is there a way to look into past backups or something of the like to get the list of songs I had on the phone before they disappeared into the ether?

thanks

Same thing here. Iphone 5 latest IOS.

Had about 20 albums and 5 playlists synced.

When I plug the phone into Itunes shows all the songs on the phone, however when I run the Music app on the phone, it says "No Content"

All the music sync settings were lost as well on Itunes, so I have to go back and reselect all the songs and playlists.

Not using Wifi Sync at all.

Can anyone at Apple add to this? I've had many iphones for 6 years and never had this issue.

Yes, playlist still existed on itunes, but all sync settings were gone, I had to manually go back and reselect all my individual albums plus all my playlists. A real pain.

The irony is that when I browsed the Iphone in Itunes, it showed that everything was still on the phone, however the music app acted like nothing was on the phone.

Real strange...

Weird. This loss of all music from my iPhone happened to me today. I opened the Music app on my iPhone 5, it showed my playlists for a couple of seconds, then crashed; when I reopened the Music app, it said there was no content, and that I could get music from the iTunes store. If I search for Music files on my phone - songs that I know were there - nothing appears in the search results.

Context: I guess the last time I used the Music app was last night, playing one Audiobook while going to sleep, using the timer in the Clock app to make it stop playing. There have been minor syncing bugs, but that pretty much goes without saying, doesn't it?

I've now plugged the phone in to my computer to resync; all the music has apparently reverted to "Other", so this syncing process may take a long time, depending on how willing the Other is to disappear without doing a full restore.

I'm not concerned about having lost anything - the stuff is all on my computer, and telling it what to sync is easy - but the resyncing will likely take at least a few hours. However, sometimes I'm away from my computer for a month or so, and if this happened at the airport at the start of a trip I'd be more than a little annoyed!

(I assume there are other threads about this, but this is the first one I found.)

Exactly, weird! This happened to me too sometime between saturday and last night. I just noticed this morning that my phone said I have no music although iTunes showed the content like nothing was wrong. Could it be some bug that gets activated remotely? It's really strange that we had the same problem on the same day.

There's a quick fix to the problem, at least it worked for me. I manage my music manually, so syncing wasn't really an option. I just plugged my phone to my computer, started iTunes and renamed one song. That's it. Everything was back, including playlists. But really, if this happens on a long trip it'll be a HUGE disappointment.

Edit: I just noticed that the album covers are missing on my phone. iTunes shows them correctly. Any ideas how to fix this?

On album covers: I used to have that problem a lot, and it still appears once in a while, but less often since the update to 8.3.

After the music wipe yesterday, the resyncing took a long time. It was what has alas become a typical Apple process: start syncing. Wait a long time as nothing seems to happen. Give up, restart. Wait again. Give up, restart, reboot computer and iPhone because why not, restart sync. OK, good, now I've got rid of the "Other" that used to be music. Now I need to add music back. Sync. Wait. Nothing happens. Give up again. And so on. Eventually, for whatever reasons, the gears clicked into place and the syncing happened.

I got in my car today, and no music on my phone. Not the first time this has happened to me. I have no idea if I have my phone set up to sync over wi-fi or not because it has been so long since Ive looked at my settings on my phone and my computer. Maybe this happens while I'm sleeping and the phone is plugged in and on wi-fi, but seems like it would always happen if that's the case. It's very frustrating, the reason I have a MacBook and an iPhone is because I personally believed that they had far less bugs then Microsoft products. (I know that's a whole other debate that never ends.) My point is, that was my belief and when stuff like this happens that absoloutley shouldn't happen, it is so irritating. It's irritating no matter what OS, no matter what hardware or software, you're using. If you pay for the software, you expect it to work right, for it to be fully developed and tested. No excuses.

Sorry, had to vent a little. So what steps can I take to prevent this from happening in the future? If this is a bug, can we tag apple somehow so they can see this thread? Or do we have to submit a form? Or am I just setting things up wrong on my computer / iPhone.

I have an iPhone 5, iOS 8.3. MacBook Pro with OS X, I forget exactly which version of X, and I forget which version of iTunes.

Thanks for for any and all help.
