Time capsule

Time Capsule Community:

Months ago (perhaps up to nine), I turned off encryption (system preferences>security&privacy) it asked if I would 'delete' 153.6 GB, as there wouldn't be enough 'space' to turn it off (inferring that I would be using a new encryption system.

Has anyone encountered a decision like this? If so, what did you (or recommend doing)?
