iTunes Match subscription says expired

I just got the iPhone 5 and I have iTunes Match subscription until July of 2013. So plenty of time left and I have it turned on on my phone and when I'm on wifi it seems to work fine but if I'm on cellular data after about 20-30 minutes of using it it says my subscription is expired and everything stop working. I haven't tried to call apple yet but it's extremely frustrating. Anyone know what's going on?

I'd had my phone for two days when I left for Europe on business. It worked flawlessly for the first two days, and I had set it up as a new phone. Left for Europe and turned off data so AT&T couldn't screw me. Got back, turned on data, and all seemed well for about 12 hours.

Left WiFi and in about an hour I suddenly got the "iTunes Match has expired..." message. After reading the posts here I checked. Somehow Match was suddenly turned off. Turned it back on, took about 1 minute on WiFi and it was working again.

To turn it back on I checked settings. There are several....and all must be enabled. Under "iTunes & App Stores" there's a setting for Match. Turn it on, choose what you want to download and then at the bottom of the page is "Use Cellular Data". It was off... how, I don't know.

Then, under "Music" in settings there's another "iTunes Match" switch and another "Use Cellular Data" switch. Match was on but the cell data switch was off. Turned it back on.

Checked under the other items... Videos, Photos, iBooks, Podcasts, iTunes U. Only Podcasts had a cell data switch. I almost never get podcasts on the road so I turned it off.

All seems to be working. I disabled WiFi, used it a bit, turned WiFi back on, off again.... no more problems that I can see. But, if it's truly a bug it may not show up in 30 minutes of use. At least I know where to go to turn all of it back on and it's only a minute or so to get it back.

I tried both turning on cellular use for all apps and turning off home sharing, but I'm still having the same problem.

Just to repeat the known details of the problem:

1. My iPhone 5 (iOS 6) claims I don't have an iTunes Match subscription.

2. My iTunes Match sub runs out in mid-November

3. iTunes Match works on WiFi on all other devices

4. My iPhone 5 (running iOS6) works with iTunes Match until I switch to cellular

Any help on this issue is greatly appreciate. My error message might be true if this isn't fixed by mid-November. The only reason I subscribe is for usage over cellular, so I won't be resubscribing if I can't get this fixed.

Your post is almost exactly my complaint to iTunes Match support today. I thought I'd cured it with turning on everything but today, after leaving WiFi, Match suddenly went off again with the "Subscription Expired..." message. I have also turned off home sharing and cell data.

Currently I am back on a WiFi connection and all seems to be going well. I am also:

1> Using an iPhone 5 with iOS 6. Error states "Subscription Expired. Use a computer to resubscribe".

2> My iTunes Match Subscription expires Nov 14 (set to auto-renew)

3> Match seems to work on WiFi

4> Working on WiFi and apparently drops on cell data.

Question... Are you, by any chance, on AT&T with a grandfathered "Unlimited Data Plan"? AT&T doesn't allow "FaceTime over Cellular" with one of their "limited" Unlimited Data Plans. I'm wondering if they are screwing with iTunes Match over Cellular for Unlimited Plans as well.

I have been in touch with support and have the phone number of a Senior Advisor who is working on my case. If we get a resolution I'll post it here.

That's a great theory and I absolutely hate that it might be true. It looks like it's either that or some weird glitch on Apple's end because here's the latest test I tried.

Went into the iPhone's settings and turned LTE off. Turned Wifi off. Turned iTunes Match on. No error message. Turned Wifi on to load library data through iTunes Match. Turned Wifi back off (and kept LTE off) and now there's no problem whatsoever.

I guess I'll keep LTE off for now when I want to use match, but man would this be a huge annoyance. If AT&T is truly blocking it on LTE unlimited plans then they need to at least communicate with Apple and its customers about this because it's clearly causing a huge problem with the software. Basically, I need to reload my iTunes library for 3-10 minutes if I forget to turn LTE off while my phone is accessing music through an additional service that I PAY for. Not to mention the two hours I wasted trying to fix this last night.

Anyway, I hope this isn't the case. I'll be contacting both AT&T and Apple when I have time, but please anyone else who gets through to someone and has an answer, please post your progress here.

This particular problem appears to be a bug with iOS 6. Hopefully, there is a fix for this in iOS 6.01 as is being reported by various online sources. Here's one with a mention of iTunes Match and cellular data switch problems.

I've had this issue for about a week, and I have a possible solution (at least for me.)

So, I could access Match just fine via Wi-Fi. Music played fine, etc. However, when on LTE, I got the "not subscribed" error. I would get the same error when I tried to enable Match in settings while on LTE. After the error arose, I was never able to play or enable iTunes Match on LTE, even for a few seconds/minutes without getting the error.
I called Apple. I could tell the rep was cruising the forums (and probably this post) from the things he was asking me to do. Eventually he told me that I should talk to AT&T to see if they were throttling or blocking access to iTunes Match. I did. The AT&T rep said that was not the case. After some basic troubleshooting steps, she instructed me to do something I hadn't thought of: reset the network settings. I did so, and since then (about an hour) I have been able to access iTunes Match over LTE with no issue. In fact, I have had Wi-Fi turned off for that entire time.

The reset is under Setting>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Hope this can help someone else out, too.

Edit: I also updated to 6.0.1 this morning. After the update, my problem wasn't solved, but just in case this had anything to do with my fix, I wanted to add it in the mix.

Jay, thanks for your contribution. I was almost ready to say it looked like this was working for me, but I needed to test one more problem that was occurring:

Before when iTunes Match was temporarily working, it wouldn't play any songs that iTunes had matched. It would however play songs I had uploaded through iTunes Match. It looks like unfortunately this is still the case.

Maybe this is a separate problem altogether, but it's only been a problem on the iPhone (matched songs still play on my ipad and computer)... but who knows.

Hoping Jay's solution helps us all out temporarily while Apple finds the root problems behind Match.

After my last post on Oct 28 I was still getting the "subscription expired" message when on cell data. I updated to 6.0.1. It seemed to be OK for a few minutes but then occurred again. As long as I was on cell data it did not work correctly.

When I purchased my phone I bought it outright as a business phone so AT&T gave me the right to unlock the phone. Last night I did the full restore required to unlock the phone and this morning I have been running Match on cell data with no problems. All my music is showing as it was on my iPhone 4S and no errors have been generated. I've downloaded music from the cloud and things seem to be just fine.

Because I restored the phone it did a full reset and then reloaded all the network settings again. If, indeed, the reset of network settings is the way to go then it's a fairly simple process. You will lose saved networks but all you'll have to do is reconnect as you find them again.

If, for some reason, you decide to do a full restore it is not a huge time investment either. Start iTunes, plug in the phone (don't use wifi), if using iCloud for backup change it to local backup on iTunes, transfer any purchases to your computer, do a backup, then start the restore.

Apple finally made it a simple process to restore from backup. After the phone has restarted as a "new" phone set everything up and then restore from your local backup. The process restores folders and apps just as you had them when you did the backup. It took less than 20 minutes for me to restore all my apps and all the settings and info for each app was right where it was supposed to be.

After you've restored everything you can then change the setting to backup to iCloud again.

For now, all seems OK. I'll post again if things change.

I really hate to burst bubbles, but I have tried literally every solution in this thread, and many of them work for several days, but they all (all of them) eventually result in a reoccurance of the error. I have reset network settings over and over, and I've restored the phone so many times that it was nearly every day last week. Still, the problem continues to pop up.

I am reaching the end of my patience, especially because Apple has been less than helpful in its interactions with me over this issue.

Let's do some investigation on our own on this.

Is anyone here on the thread *NOT* on AT&T? I have a feeling this is related to the AT&T carrier settings, and may be unique to our users.

Please reply to this thread if you are on some other carrier, but have experienced this problem.
