Green glow on iPhone 5 unlock screen?

I've had my iPhone 5 for a few days now and I've noticed this issue more and more. Whenever I wake my iPhone there is a split second where a green glow around the edge of the screen is visible. It's a bit like light leakage but its green and only appears for a fraction of a second after you turn on the screen. It is also sometimes activated by using the slide to unlock, which makes it glow brighter.

Does anyone else have this happening with their new iPhone? I don't know if this is the start of a defect or not... I have had very rare graphical flickering and tearing of the keyboard UI, but that's only happened once or twice and only for a second, as soon as I started typing it went away.

It looks like this might turn into a trip to the Apple store, I just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed this weird phenomenon on their new iPhones.

It's pretty likely that they will just replace the phone for you. I would suggest booking a Genius Bar appointment though to make sure your not disappointed. Although at the moment it's pretty likely that your replacement iphone will develop the glow too...

Out of interest, does anyone here know anyone who definitely doesn't have the green glow? Every iphone 5 I've tried for more than five minutes has eventually shown it.

Same problem here. What makes it worse: it appears that it's getting worse with time, at the beginning it just affected the bottom of the screen, now it spreads to the left and right sides, too, just the top is normal. Has anybody received official statements from apple regarding the reason for this glowing?

I bought mine unlocked in the uk, had the glow issue, got it replaced, just started using my new one and guess what, it's back. Apple need to sort their stuff out, this isn't acceptable when I pay £600 for a handset. I used it to take a photo the other day and seen the purple haze thing that's been talked about but hadn't heard about this until now! This is getting ridiculous! I'm getting a refund now and going to keep my old 4s.

Don't you think you're overreactiing?

The green glow may be strange but it doesn't actually create any problems. It's gone in an instant and doesn't affect the actual use of the phone.

The "purple haze" problem affects the 4S (and lots of other smartphones) just as much as it does the iPhone 5 - it's not a fault, it's an inherent property of small lenses. Don't aim your camera at the sun.

Not if this may develop into a more serious issue and when I'm past my warranty apple will not fix it, no, I don't think I am really. I have never had the purple haze with any of my other iPhones and the photo in question was taken inside and in a moderately lit environment. Being a photographer for a well established publication, I am also aware of the affects the light has on cameras and the fact that we use smaller apertures and lenses on several of the cameras for our set ups, this should not be an issue.

I ordered two phones and got them both on launch day. One is a 64GB and the other 16GB. both display the glitches in the display, especially on the password entry keyboard (see image). not saying it is, but it looks a little like interference or something as it moves along the screen. the green glow on mine is now worse than it was and also when i phone on a call the ear speaker sounds like it's constantly stuck in loud speaker mode, but really quiet. I also still have the camera flash issue. Basically this phone is riddled with issues and I can't get an iphone appointment with a genius for over a week here in London.
