Brightness shortcut for iOS 6 or iphone 5 anyone?

Hi apple smarties,

I know that in ios 5.0 there used to be a shortcut that could be put on the homescreen for brightness adjustments, and it was taken away in 5.1 but has anyone found a workaround for later ios versions? I also tried asking siri to decrease the brightness but she said she couldn't do it!? I know there are apps out there, but I guess it would be just as fast for me to open up settings>brightness as it would for me to open up an app. I wish that little double tap of the home button and slide to the left would be available on the iphone as it is on the ipad. Am I missing something here? Does anyone know the right words to ask siri to do it? I don't have a jailbroken phone. Thanks!

The bluetooth on/off toggle app I mentioned was indeed yanked: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/apple/apple-pulls-bluetooth-onoff-from-the-app-store/1 2846 --some of the issues are explained in the thread, though the fanboy wars are a bit hard to take.

Has anyone seen an app to toggle the other features? I doubt it, but If so, please post here. thanks

My 12-month-old keeps somehow dimming my phone and I think I figured out how she's doing it. Lock, then quickly hit home again right before it locks. (How in the world my toddler manages to do this is beyond me.) It's temporary until you lock the phone again, or do the lock/home combo again to bring back to normal brightness.

alynn123 is correct. But make sure screen is on. Hit top right lock button, then immediately after, home button. Dimmed. Works for my on 4s.

No worries though, in a few more months when ios7 comes out, I do believe they have it solved from the

control center

So, until then, I'm just being patient and trying not to keep my screen on at night, when I just can't ever seem to get it to be dim enough for my liking.

Well maybe you've already given up but if your phone's taking a picture. You're pressing the 2 buttons together at the same time or too closely, timewise. I'll admit, it's tricky. And there's kind of a sweet spot. like seriously: lock button .1 second home button. Like alyyn 123, I discovered it by accident and couldn't even replicate it til later. It's needlessly tricky. But that is how it works. If I'm .1 second off, it takes a picture too. haha, oh well.
