Re: iTunes won't recognise my iPod Nano 3th Generation. Please Help?

I bought an iPod Nano 3rd Gen (8GB) second hand after I lost my 4GB Nano at work one day. When I tried to connect it to my iTunes which is on a Microsoft system. The Nano icon does not even appear in the left hand column of iTunes when I plug it in.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?

What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

How to reset iPod

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?

Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

The more information you provide, the more we can do to help. 😉

I have managed to fix the problem. What I did (which was recommended on one of these comments on here) was to leave the ipod plugged in and reboot my computer. The icon for the ipod showed in the left hand column and I clicked on that. The problem then was that the only way to access the ipod's memory was to us the feature which runs along the top, ie: music, podcasts etc. I had to tick the little box on each of these to activate or de-activate it. Then I went through what I wanted on my ipod by ticking the box and ..... no more headaches!!!!!
