iPhone 5 No Service?

I get little or no GSM signal within my house so "no service" is a common message when I'm at home. The majority of the time, when I step outside, my iPhone 5 promptly connects to the cellular network however occasionally it continues to say "no service" until I toggle Airplane Mode on and then off again.

I've tried resetting network settings however the problem persists. It's only occasional, so only a minor annoyance. Is anyone else seeing this? Is the consensus that this is a software problem?

Thanks,

Ed.

Thank you Heneo for your advice. I replaced the Nano SIM but it comes again frequently.

Thanks Gerbreder I turned off the 3G settings it did not come again. Now I am using without 3G. Whenever I wanted 3G I enable it. But I will update the OS again to check it is again.

Do you think this is a problem in the IPhone? I have got 11 months warranty left. What should I do?

Thank you all for your advices beacause curretly i am using the phone anyway.😁

Unfortunately I'm having this very same issue with my iPhone 5 without success from any methods listed here. I've tried all the software settings, resetting my network settings, new nano-SIM, and restoring the phone. When I restored the phone, it won't activate through iTunes or through Wi-Fi access. "We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time." This is highly frustrating and I've ended up buying a new phone because I can't use the iPhone at all. I even went as far as having a phone repair shop open the phone and try a new antenna - that didn't work either. So now I'm down to the problem being a software issue with Apple.

Back story: I bought the phone (unlocked) from another military member here in Germany last year in November and have been using it ever since then without a single problem with the SIM or antenna reception. On 18 January, I woke up to see my phone had "No Service" as the status. The phone hadn't been dropped, fell in water, or anything else to damage it or cause it not to work. I've had it in the Otterbox case I purchased when I got the phone ever since.

Unless an Apple Store employee can resolve this issue, I will NEVER buy another iPhone again. I owned the original upon release, the 3G, 4 and 4S without ever having a single problem until now.

If anyone else reading this is considering buying a 5, 5S or 5C I suggest you steer clear until they get this problem sorted out. I didn't buy an iPhone to have this many problems.

Only resolution:

Myself and the wife both have the same phone and provider. Unfortunately I did the upgrade and my phone suddenly was unable to get service/ battery drain increase/ 1 bar 1x. First I was toss back in forth from my sprint provider to Apple then vice versa. Each company blamed the other. One claimed it was a tower issue, the other hardware.

I finally made an appointment to Apple and advised them this is a known issue after faulty firmware updates. Mine started right after the update. My wife's phone works fine because she did not update. After showing our phones apple tech replaced mine. No more issues. My conclusion is Apple is aware of this firmware update causing providers to not accept lte or good connection. Good thing my phone was still under warranty.

Only resolution new phone.

By the way I did the sim / reset / all the suggestions to no avail. You can continue to try, however once your hardware has malfunctioned due to the update you are out of luck. I am hesitant to do any updates now.

The rep at the store was aware of the issue. As soon as I explained the situation he gave me a new phone. Question arises if I was out of warranty? Then I will be SOL.

I have an iphone 5c that is a little over a year and a half old. Started having the no service issue. Restored phone via itunes - spoke to someone at Apple who had me run a diagnotic which they have to send to your phone. It kept looping and never finished. Went to the Apple Store today and they advised me that I could pay $250 and they would give me another phone or they would give me a $50 credit towards another phone. I elected to do neither and will use the phone as a paper weight or an ipod as the wifi works. I believe from what I have read that the issue is the antenna or the switch for the cellular antenna. I advised Apple Genius of same and he replied that they don't repair their phone - only give you a refurb or give you 1/10 of the price of the unit under 2 years ago towards a new phone. I will indeed be buying a new phone and it won't be an apple nor will I buy any of their other planned obsolescent hardware and software any time soon. I also had bought a mac mini a few years ago that had a problem with the display port and was given another one and that too had a problem using their micro hdmi display dongle which shorted out the mobo on two models - i took the second one back and got to Ipods - one of which sits in my drawer as the hardware works fine but the software is obsolete. Now I have a matching paperweights to the tune of $300 and $500 respectively. My advice is that if money is no object then by all means get a plan from your carrier that upgrades you with a new phone every year - if you are like the other 99% of us get a cheap android phone which will do everything that the iphone will and put on an antivirus program - encrypt it and upgrade every year or two - **** for the price of the new Iphone you can get a decent android phone every 6 months and start a collection and still have money left over. Not happy with Apple - you should get what you pay for but that no longer appears to be the case with Apple as they are more of a fashion statement than a reliable hardware purveyor these days.
