Photos not sending through iMessage when on WiFi?

This worked for me! I was having trouble with a few people not receiving pictures through iMessage. I came across this post & it fixed it!

Finally my iMessages is working thanks to a coworker (Mr.Mitchell).

1.go to settings and turn off iMessages.

2.press home button twice.

3.press and hold an app icon on the bottom

until you see a red minus sign.

4.delete all of the icons via the minus sign.

5.press the power button and home button until

you see the apple logo then release both buttons.

6.go back to settings and turn read receipt on.

7.turn iMessages on and wait until iMessages has reactivated.

8.send a picture message.

I did these steps and my phone is still not sending messages. Did anyone find any other solutions? I read on anothe forum that it might be the Comcast Modem or router. Did anyone hear that as well?

It's a modem/hardware issue, specifically with certain models. Change it out and it will fix your issue permanently.

I have the supposedly "bad" modem from Comcast (TG852) that has been talked about in this discussion thread. Some have switched it out with Comcast and it would finally work again for them. I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting the new modem (as I had just gotten the TG852 in June) and so I just let it go. I read somewhere else to change the DNS number to 8.8.8.8 the free google dns number and that worked for a bit and then after a while she couldn't send photos again. The strange thing is, from that point (changing the dns), we didn't change anything else but pictures eventually started sending through imessages again. Once in a while it'll act up and she can't send, but it doesn't last for long.

Okay, so I have Comcast as my internet provider. The modem model I have is: TM402P. Everything else works for internet, but when I try to send a picture via iMessage on my iPhone 4, it won't work! I've tried everything that was listed and it still won't work. Ever since I did the update I have had a problem, personally I think it is Apple and not Comcast. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

My wife was having this issue with sending photos to me while i was at work but now everything is working perfectly. I reset my comcast modem(pressed the button on the back) but i really dont think that was the issue. I believe the issue was my work's secure connection was somehow blocking some of my apple data. For example i could update my apps but i couldnt download podcasts. Now that has been resolved at my work and my phone is fully functional. I jumped the gun into thinking it was a comcast issue but i was the only person that couldnt receive photos and it was only while i was at work. I thought it would be helpful to share as there isnt many success stories when it comes to this issue.

this happens when one number/apple id is being used across your apple devices. try to assign different apple IDs to each device and then turn the device off.

The problem is the routers ports, you need to ensure these ports are opened and forwarded.

Some companies such as comcast have to do it on their end.

So you would need to call comcast and have them open the following ports and if you have another router at home, you need to ensure the same.

Enable port forwarding on the following ports to use FaceTime and iMessage on a restricted network.

Iam still having this issue after having dropped ComCast and switching over to Verizon FiOS service. Fios has been much more stable and faster, but still can't send pictures over wifi using Iphone 4s running iOS 6.

I tried I think all of the techniques in this thread.

Anyone have this issue with Verizon FiOS too?

I am having same prob on iPhone 5s. I can only send pics on wifi if I go to settings and go to cellular and turn on cellular data. Wich I don't understand cause I'm using wifi?

My husband and I both have iPhone 5 and most current version of iOS. My husband cannot send photos via iMessage on wi-fi but can send on cellular data. I can send both on wi-fi and cellular. This is not a problem with my modem (Comcast ISP running on a Motorola modem) or router. This is an Apple issue. I recently had his iPhone replaced through Apple Care due to other issues. I guess I'll be calling Apple again for this issue...

You may say it isnt a problem with your Comcast, but that is likely the issue. If the device can send just fine through cellular data then you know that the device itself is functioning properly when sending pictures. Wifi networks often have issues with Apple Products. I discovered that Comcast was my issue when I went to my friends house, he has centurylink and I was able to send and recieve pictures just fine over wifi. While people like to blame Apple for this issues, a lot of times it is due an individuals network. I know your post was a couple of months ago, but if you still are having troubles I would try the device on another wifi network that is different then the one you are on. So if you are having this issue while on comcast wifi go to a centurylink network or whatever else there is where you live.

Once I determined that it was my own personal network causing the issue I turned to the source to determine if it was my Comcast modem, or my netgear router. I started by purchasing Apple's Airport extreme,(i figured if switching out the router didnt fix the problem I could just return the airport extreme) It fixed the problem. Turns our an Apple create router connects better then a netgear router to Apple Products. I am not super computer savvy but by process of elimination I found the route of the issue.

This is not a modem issue, this is an Apple issue. I have an iPhone 4S with up to date iOS and have this same issue. No matter where I am, home, friends, mall, restaurant, anywhere there's free wifi, I cannot send pictures with wifi. I can only send them with cellular data, which is very inconvenient when I'm close to using all my data plan. I have tried every non-modem suggestion in this thread and none have worked. My iPad sends pics on wifi though. Has anyone had any luck with Apple fixing their device?

Same problem here only it just started a month or so ago (maybe with ios7 update). My sister and I both have iPad2s and iPhones. Our iPads are WiFi only. If I send a text with image, she receives the text on both devices but the image only on her iPad. We have different ISPs (Verizon and AT&T) but I think we both use Netgear routers.

Sounds more like a communication problem originating with the Apple device. Sure, maybe you can "fix" it by tweaking settings on your modem or router, but you shouldn't have to. We've successfully texted words and images in the past using these same modems and routers. Come on Apple!!
